Plasma Cutting

Is it necessary/advisable to wear a mig welding eye shield or some other UV and/or darkened eye protection whilst plasma cutting?

Virtually everyone ive ever seen use a plasma has not bothered with any eye protection at all .. but that doesnt make it right

Just wondering as I may have to do a bit of plasma cutting soon and would rather avoid burning my retinas or arc eye.

Plasma Cutting

Just a normal goggle will protect your eyes from the UV light that will cause arc eye. A darkened goggle will protect against the glare, but isnt needed for the work itself.
