  • Removable links on invertable robots

I was just wandering if i had the hole for the link on top of my robot would i have to have 2 links in series so there was one on top and underneth depending on which side the robot is so that one can be removed wether the robot was upright or upside down?

You can get away with having one just on one side if it isnt near any weapons or potentially dangerous areas of the robot. If you can make it accessible from the side that would probably be ideal.

why not do as Tornado or Storm II do and have one link centrally mounted in the rear of the robot? Who cares what side the robot is up. The link is always available.

Our link is just on the Top, Never had any problems yet, but our weapon is electric and quite slow  so turning it over isnt too much of a hasard if it ended up upside down at the end of a fight. Might be better else where if its pnematic though!

ok i surpose i could put it in the back not that i would want to compete with it of course as it only has screws as weapons appart from a wedge at the back. a bit like wbc with screws coming out the sides and back but no flipper.

My featherweight, Conundrum has the link hatch on the top purely because I dont really want to be creating holes in my side armour for spinners to get hooked on and rip to shreds. Its never been a problem in the past.

Pillow Torque has the same set-up as Chris. Used to be in the side but like he said, with more viscious spinners out there it was becoming vulnerable.

Well it is easier to roll over a feather to de-link, but for a heavy thats a different story.

well even if your robot is not invertable, positioning the link can be a problem as you can still end up upside down at the end of a fight. I have placed mine centrally with access from the top. It may not be ideal in certain situations but it has one and so therefore adheres to the rules.

Thanks everyone and i have solved the problem by using the case from a cd rom drive i already have a hole with a cover on ( its underneth the huge sticker on the top) hopefully that should do although of course i am not going two compete with it aas leak however it will be nice to pulverise some cardboard!!!
