  • Extreme Robots - The need for a team T-Shirt

    Hi All

For all those planning on going to the live events, I have just spotted this on Facebook - ie the need to wear a team T shirt!!

My 8 year old daughter is now in full design mode - she seems more excited about this than the fact we have Madusa up and running!!!

After the news of the cancellation of the TV show, For 2018 we are stepping up our game even more for this year's events to really push things forward and help secure a solid future.
One of the first things for this year and moving forward, every team member will be required to be wearing a team shirt with no excuses. If you fail to bring one, you either wont be allowed in the pits, or you will have to purchase one of our branded t-shirts so don't forget your own. 👍 most of you have them already.
More Info soon about the exciting changes to this year's events / the format / the Extreme Robots championship when / where / how ?
    #extremerobots
    Cheers

    Jon

Are they allowing heavy spinners at every event?

They were allowing heavy spinners at Gloucester 2017 so I think so, tip speed is limited to 125mph though.

Not sure how I feel about this one. On one hand, it makes events seem more professional and clearly distinguishes roboteers. On the other, I feel he should have been the one making the announcement here if it was so important (you'll be turned away otherwise). I mean if it's that crucial, he could have made an effort to publicise it a tad more. But I suppose his service is invaluable to roboteers, so can't comlplain too much. I'll probably be buying one of his, mainly because I'm an indecisive so-and-so who can't settle on a name.

I've already bought about £100-odd pounds for a set of shirts to be made, I've been meaning to get this done for a while now. I would have liked to have seen this being publicised here by the EXR team (I guess RL will want to follow suit here?) though. Not everyone uses Facebook to find out this sort of thing. I do get it though, it has the wider audience and I can see the need for this.

Sorry I have no idea as only stumbled across the post on Facebook when looking over some of his videos! To be fair he is probably super busy and most of the info seems to be posted on Facebook.

We might even buy some white tShirts and Sharpies and do it that way.

Yeah it is abit of an interesting debate as they are saying this to make it more official and standardised. However it could open it up to teams wearing bin bags and toilet plungers on their heads and saying that’s their teams outfits! :/ Also after spending a lot of money on bots should it be expected to then have to buy a team outfit? (I’ve got to admit from Day 1 of Robot Wars I’ve wanted my own bot and also a tasty uniformed outfit for my team so I am more than down with the idea, I just feel it’s abit harsh saying “Team T-Shirts or Go home” hahaha)

I'm pretty sure it has been suggested by John Findlay that you could just go to Primark and get some plain, cheapo t-shirts that are the same colour as your robot. So I guess you don't have to go all out with printed logos etc if you don't want to spend that much money.
Having said that I have always wanted a team t-shirt so it's cool to finally have a proper reason to make one.

that sounds fine i think is it one of those things it just need to be clarified. Worse to worse just bring some cash along as a backup.

Wonder how heavyweight teams will get on keep rebuilding expensive heavies after each live event.

Depends on the draw I should think. Unless there has been some changes to the Robots Live! arena, spinners won't be allowed to run there so nothing will change from that point and I can't remember there being that much fall out in Gloucester or Maidstone for the heavies. Get Shrekt (a Feather) did manage to throw a robot into the wall or ceiling though, that was mighty impressive.
