3rd/4th Sept - XFM Featherweight Challenge, Norwich

Does anybody going this weekend have a Hitec HPF-10 programmer? and if so can they stick it in a box and bring it with them.

I have just bought a digital programmable servo and would be interested in seeing one working before I shelled out any more cash.

    Cheers Trev

Hi there - got back home totally exhausted. 10 trips back and forth to unload the car of camping gear, robot + tools etc and small child. This morning found I had no terrestrial tv, a battery had exploded in my Sky remote and it took me half hour to get on the forum because my computer is playing up
Anyway BIG THANX to everyone for the encouragement, help, nerve calming etc. Pillow is about as bent as a banana but at least it still runs - if only on 3 wheels. Also, Im no longer a robot virgin  Best moment of my weekend? Has to be at the pub on Sat night when Mark pulled

Photographic evidence of what? Pillow bent as a banana but running? Me no longer a robot virgin? Or Marks antics? (BTW it wasnt me but it involved a waitress and a free banana split - as for the rest of us it was our sides that were splitting)

Afternoon all - apologies for not posting anything before. Thanks again for making it a great event, the sell-out final show I think surpassed anything Ive seen before anywhere and weve already had feedback from event veterans saying theyd never seen anything like it either.

Loads of people to thank, Dave and Sian, Pete, Jackie and Jess for their help, Shane for.... well for being Shane ), Mr Stu, our crack team of (very well paid) pneumatics experts, Bob, and anyone else I might have forgotten.

Big congratulations go to Ewan and his bot Stingray for doing so well and getting all the way through to the final, and of course well done to Little Spinner for their hard fought win - seems theyre not getting it all their own way these days !

Were on the verge of releasing some closely guarded secrets about the XFM Halloween show, if youve not already signed up, Id suggest you head over to the XFM site now !

Anyway, thanks again to everyone - were all looking forward to the next one !

Hmmm... The final downloads fine in a few seconds David, but the other one seems to crawl along at no better than 8KB/Sec on broadband.
                      As to the final- Ouch!

                        hehe, yes - ouch... lol

The bot did well against mighty mouse and 4 baa 4 but just wasnt up to Little Spinner. The spinner only took out one gearbox and the disc support (all the motors staying in place thanks to my super strength solder joints ) but the base plate is badly bent and many bolts have been sheared.

I hoped that chassis would last till the winter tour, but too bad I guess... Got an excuse to finish micro-maul now.

As Ed said, you did really well getting to the final considering the quality of UK feathers these days. Nice one!

John the reason the other video is slow is due to it being hosted from a free server, as weve ran out of room on our NTL account (where the final is hosted).

Some good fights on the sunday afternoon, new Alpha held up well, amazed that over 20 bolts came loose during that little spinner fight.

Again another great event and the venue was great with the sucken floor area, just looks like it was made for the XFM arena. Enjoyed the whole event, including drinking a bit too much Sat night but dont remember pulling anyone, thought it was the other way around.

Hope weve not done too much damage to anyones machine, Im sure one day it will be the other way round. Little Spinner also had most of the bolts come loose on the top plate, but the chasis isnt twisted as much as before. Found what was wrong with Big Nipper too and ordered new gears for the crusher, hopefully will be ready for this weekend, if not will have to try the lifter weapon again.
