Kinematic Events / BeetleWeights.com - Wolverhampton 28th February 2015
Still over 2 weeks left, so plenty of time to get a robot ready ;-)
I believe John Lear and Clive are rushing theirs together.
We have about 10 teams and 15 robots which is a nice number for the first event and the size of the function room. But still room left for a few more teams.
>>> UPDATE - PRIZE FUND <<<
HobbyKing.co.uk are sponsoring the event with $150's of e-vouchers to use as prizes for this event plus other bits and bobs. http://www.hobbyking.co.uk - a big thank you to Hobby King, this is just the start between the two companies.
Also Shockbots are sponsoring £90 worth of gift vouchers to use in the prize fund mix - http://www.shockbots.co.uk
Many thanks to Will for this and can't wait to see the Shockbots in action.
Also a reminder, info packs will be emailed out on the 16th of February evening, so keep an eye on your email accounts/spam mail.
We have some important area managers turning up to this event which will be the start of many more to come. Hope to have a good time and see most of you there. Even if you think your robot is not full competition ready, come along and meet/greet/chill/ have a drink at the pub/area of the robot event.
More news/pictures coming this week of the arena and our Pay to Battle Robots- and house robot.
Info packs were emailed out last night - if you havnt recieved it, let me know at info@kinematicevents.com and i'll get that sorted for you. Pay to Battle Bots by Ellis/ranglebox.com are coming on great. The house robot is looking amazing from David Weston and the arena is nearly done - thanks to Simon Cook for the welding. I now have a long weekend of attaching all the polycarb and making the pit work.
Greene King (Hungry Horse) are now pushing the advertising this week/next week. Local Radio stations and papers have agreed to run a competition/advertising campaign. Local interest seems very high also.
Excellent, got my beetle signed up and will see you all there!
It's called Fhwhgads. Short for Fhqwhgadshgnsdhjsdbkhsdabkfabkveybvf. I really hope someone gets the reference... Only just a little bolt-together-from-scrap-parts thing but should be pretty fun all the same! And failing that, spinner food.

I get the reference!
Also RPM is fixed by magic space wizards. So I can now definitely come.
Hoping to have the final list of robots update on beetleweights.com tonight.
Sign ups are now closed - if you are coming with your Beetle Weight and have an Ant Weight, you are more than welcome to bring it along as Will has kindly offered to bring an arena base for it. (No spinners). All info packs have been sent out - drop us an email if you don't have it so we can re send it out.
Update on weight tolerance - as advised by the FRA there will be a 2% tolerance, on the day your robot must weight no more than 1.53kg (1.5kg + 2% (30g)). Scales will be near the arena door - no cheated :-p
The arena final build is starting Monday afternoon, keep an eye on our Facebook page and twitter account (#CombatRobots) for loads of random build pictures/updates. More goodies from HobbyKing.com to give away on the day.
The Pay to Battle Fleet is looking amazing from Ellis/ranglebox.com that will be running on the day, and Krank is nearly complete - our Pay To Battle fleet house robot by David Weston.
Hiya, I put me and my old man down on the entry form but my 19yr old brother in law and his girlfriend are interested in coming along and building a beetle for the next event. Can I bring them too even though they're not on the form?
Hi there. Not a problem at all. Though pit space is quite limited, it would be best they try and stay out the pits as much as possible but are more than welcome to come. You'll see what I mean when you come but it will be fine. See you soon ;-)
