Hey guys, just a thread for any good pics/videos from this weekends event. My first live viewing of bots - and im very impressed. Ill capture some video I shot of hassockshog being flipped out of the arena soon!
Thoark, yep lol ive just been trying to think of it for the last half an hour i kept thinking its T something but couldnt remember. Yes I can be that sad and bored to spend that much time on it.
Many people come to this forum to look for events, If they are not here then how do people find out about them. This was the first event we went to (as spectators) a few years ago and decided that we would build a robot, It would have been nice to go back with a robot if someone could have been bothered to tell us it was on this year. Never mind its their loss.
If the Event is not mentioned here then I must assume that the FRA has no knowledge of the event and that it does not come upto their standards, I dont mean to be offensive but the organisers, who ever they are, should have made a point for it to be listed as approved by the FRA on their events page otherwise it gives the impression that the organisers think FRA is meaningless and need not be involved.
The FRA does not necessarily need to be involved! Bear in mind that the FRA is an only an association as its title suggests, it is a group of individuals that have chosen to form a club. Any individual or event organiser can choose to associate with the FRA or not, it isnt compulsory and the FRA standards are not the only way to organise and run an event. As long as an event organiser takes the time to consider the risks and undertakes a risk assessment to protect both themselves and the public, they are quite free to run an event.
There is no legislation to force affiliation to the FRA anymore than there is for the FA, BCU, BMC, MLTB, FSB, NFU, NSA or any other trade or sporting federation you can think of. This is quite correct IMHO, no-one organistaion should be able to take total control of any sport or industry.
Mark, it wasnt listed for the reasons you think - was more invite only this year due to lack of budget, space etc..... Mike and co decided not to list it.
all i have to say is oops, yes thorak did get thrown out the arena and yes my stomache did churn as i saw where it was going. it was very unfortunate and luckily no-one was hurt
