Roboteering Showcase at the Suffolk Show
Last year Team Storm were invited to the Suffolk Show (one of the largest county shows in the UK) with Storm II and some of the House Robots from Robot Wars. The stand was so popular that at times stewards had to come in and marshall the crowd.
The day was so popular that weve been invited back, and this time theyre making the robots the center of the show. Weve a 1000sqm stand on the showground, and the XFM Featherweight Arena will be there.
This event isnt about all out combat, its a chance for us to showcase what we all do as roboteers to an interested audience. Last year we had a large number of interested potential roboteers come to the stand, and many wanted to know more about building and how to get involved (with Storm, Chaos, Steel Avenger, Cassius, Henry and Prizephita - Ipswich is a bit of a hotbed for roboteering !).
The Suffolk Show itself represents a great family event whether youre there with your robot or just the kids. Well be inviting the FRA and UK Robotic Games to showcase their wares, as well as 20 schools from around the Suffolk area taking part in a technology challenge through grants who will be joining us on the stand to show the public what theyve been doing.
Places are very limited, and this is of course just a day before the XFM Featherweight Challenge event in Ipswich. If teams want to come down for the duration of the 2 events then well be more than happy to help put some funds towards expenses - as well as sort out some discounted accomodation for teams, as well as free camping (seeing as by that time of year it should be warn enough to consider such things!).
Anyway, well post more information on this one as we get it, in the meantime, if you want to join us, you know the drill by now - post below or email direct !
Should be a good one.... with BBQs and beer I suspect.
