  • Any events going on November?

Me and my wife plan to spend a week in the UK from the 6th till the 13th.
...actually my wife booked a cake decorating course, and I took the opportunity to join her, not decorating obviously!
We'll be based in Birmingham, was wondering if there's anything on in that area round that time. We plan to rent a car to travel around and sightsee, but we're keeping to the area.

Great! Think I'll get myself a lottery ticket Terry
An hour drive is not much, so it's definitely on. What type of event will it be, feather, heavy or both?

If it goes goes by the usual format it will be heavy weight based with 2 featherweight melees per show

That's fine, is it normally held over a weekend or just one day?
If I manage to finish my robot by that time I might think about getting it over...but that depends on the baggage allowance my wife will give me!

So you'll be bringing an ant weight? :P

This makes me look like an idiot...all I needed was there all the time!

Might be a good idea, but building a feather is enough trouble!
For this time probably I'll just enjoy the show as a spectator, it will be too much of a hassle to get the robot along.
Would like to get the opportunity to meet the roboteers on here tho, and having a chat and giving you a face would be great!

You could always bring just the robot and I'm sure people over here would be able to lend you things like chargers, transmitters, tools etc. to save it taking up loads of weight and space.

Hey Max, yes that could be an option if someone offered...but it would be better I finished the build first, then start thinking how to get it over.
what should have been a weight shedding modification ended in a total rebuild of the machine, and progress is a bit slow

At this sort of event they are often relaxed about weight so I wouldn't worry too much, it is more for the championships that they are concerned about weight

That will make a total of £20, much cheaper than what I ended up doing!

I'm afraid its too late now, Liftoff is totally dismembered and some parts recycled for its rebuild into Blastoff...let's see how the build proceeds, might get a rolling chassis and use it as a rambot!

Us roboteers are an easy-going bunch, I'm sure someone who's attending the show will be happy to let you drive one of their robots, whether it be FW or HW
If I was going I would've brought one of the Scot-Bots kits along, but I'm planning on getting along to Doncaster at the end of October and can't really manage another trip south a couple of weeks later unfortunately.

I'm sure you all are, but taking the controls of a robot I'd probably be taking it too far!... I wouldn't say no to a visit to the pits tho!...if its allowed that is...
