  • Roaming Robots, Aylesbury Feather Weights 25th July

    Hi Guys,

For the last 6 months there has been a nice relaxed feather weight event in discussion to take place in Aylesbury Market Square,July 25th between 11am - 3pm.
The Roaming Robots featherweight arena, a full combat or friendly competition depending upon interest with prizes for the top 3 winners.

Due to the clash of the RC wars event, it was arranged that it would just consist of the Roaming Robots Pay to Drive, and our €œ crews €œ feather weights doing demonstration fights throughout the day, and therefore was never opened up to the community.

    However€¦€¦.

It appears due to another clash for the RC wars guys with the ant weights, they have cancelled their event leaving the date open.

Therefore im now opening it up to feather weight teams who wish to take part in our competition, and / or heavyweight teams to put robots on static display.... then contact me directly, or leave a message here.

More details to follow depending on interest.

    Jonno

What do you mean If ready! Maybe when you make up your mind exactly which drive system you want in the bloody thing then maybe, just maybe, it will be ready for the 25th!! (typical woman!!)

Lets see if we can help the poor girl out here shall we guys. Given the choice what would you go for?

        A) 380W thingap motors with 13:1 gearboxes.. around 16MPH with reasonable torque

        B) 750W Astroflight motors with 15:1 gearboxes.. Around 12MPH with a serious amount of torque

        C) 600W thingap motors with 26:1 gearboxes.. around 10MPH with far more torque than is reasonable for a feather

        Answers on a postcard....

(Im gonna get lynched for this!)

        Geoff.

P.S. Jonno, put us down for this event please.

craig... you set up the event in the first place !!

Geoff and jenny.... from what ive seen about your options of drive motors... ditch them, and put the good old reliable golds in there !!!

Oh if only it was that easy Jonno, But you know what these woman get like when they set their minds on something! a bit like her insisting on water cut Ti armour! Not to mention the fact that the whole design was originally based around thingaps so no room for something as large as a gold plus reduction gearing!

*sighs*.. why did I ever offer to get involved with Project Pillow Torque?

                    Geoff
                    (getting potentialy suicidal)!

Yes, guys I do have a choice, BUT it does help if you acctually have the motors to hand. Geoff had my 13:1 thingaps after his 26:1s broke, thus putting me behind on the build. After waiting so long to get them back I ordered some Astrofights from Team Wyachi and it seems they have got lost in the post!!!!! So Im waiting for the replacements for them.
In the meantime I got my thingaps back from Geoff
And he also said I could have his repaired 26:1s as Scorpion Jr has gone back to gold power!
Choices, choices...Whats a girl to do?
