I actually completely forgot about that! Another prime example then, I should've been counted out after 30 seconds as I was unable to move across the arena floor in a controlled manner. Must've been my uber-spinning that bumped up the style section of my judging card to get the points

I agree with the idea of higher walls because its so low that Explosion fliped its self out within a cople of seconds of the fight!

LS4 had the coolest arena exit against Inertia XL.

Higher Walls sounds like a good idea to me as it might stop Bonx putting Tiny Toon out of the arena

A big thanks to the Robo Challenge guys for another great event.Congratulations to Mark,Michael and Will on your hard won trophies and to Zac on putting up a good fight in the annihilator final.

On the subject of the annihilator semi final I could not honestly say at what point the link came out of Tiny Toon but have to say that Sam was absolutely superb in the way that he took the decision and look forward to our 1v1fight at the next event ( with NST not Tiberious Sam )

Finally well done to Wendy on a great showing with Stagefright

A big thanks to all the Robo-challenge crew for putting on another superb event. I think everyone would agree that it had the true champs atmosphere with the competitive bar raised and big audiences.

Congrats to the winners and finalists. It is certainly time one of the machines from the big nipper team took the UK champs trophy with each of their machines being top class in their weapon type.

Thanks to everyone who helped me out with NST, lending parts and tools and helping to rebuild it! it was certainy worth the effort, the machine once again suprised me with its robustness.

Once again I have a list of improvements for NST or maybe a new machine.

Having been a judge I know that there is little guidance on rule details. Perhaps The FRA could compile a 'guidance' set of rules, derived from key topics discussed on this furum to find balanced and well thought out details to some of the judging criteria.
This set of rules could then be available to event organisers and judges to use at the event organisers' discretion.

I wish i'd taken more footage of the battles will upload what i have soon. Has anyone got the big melee with NST in from the Saturday?
Look forward to seeing the vids as the're posted

I like the low arena walls, and the 30 second pit rule, Explosion has no trouble getting out in that time

We watched that fight back in slow motion, and it actually leapfrogged about two feet into the air, not a clue how it happened...

I also particularly enjoy being thrown from the arena. It's fantastic fun, very audience friendly & I have no rebuilding to do.

I should be the greatest advocate of removing the pit - I'm always in it & it's not very audience friendly in a melee but oddly I'm not opposed to it.

Besides couldn't you just use higher walls on the Sunday? If the annihilator is for people who should have gotten to the semi finals - let them fight in a higher ability arena & leave the newbie qualifiers flip out who they like. If your 3 round 1 matches get knackered by a pit or a low arena wall , you have bigger problems than the arena design.

On the subject of leaving the arena Zach says you orrible sods just laughed and applauded him when he fell out of the arena. Obviously he's not in favour of higher arena walls

                            Andy

Did anyone get that on video cos i fancy a good laugh myself??

I think that was earlier in the week when Zach fell out the arena! I missed it but did hear the it

Huge congratulations to Mark Lumb for taking home the win this weekend - It's been well deserved and I'm suprised the win hasn't come in sooner years!
The spinners made a big impression this year - LS4 never fails to impress, and NST/Inertia XL put on some awesome displays aswell.
My favourite fight has to be Basher/Buzzbar though Great fun to watch.

I hope you all enjoyed the event and had a great time - We at Robo Challenge were pretty well worn out by the time the event got started (and so was Andy Kane from his sleeping position between the judges table and the arena LOL) but we thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Repair zone seemed to be a popular feature - especially when something caught fire and had tp set off the fire extinguishers in there We have had some great feedback on it.

On the dodgy Judging note for the NST/Tiny Toon fight - Andy Kane did specifically say at the beginning of the annihilator that the 30s pit rule does not apply in the Annihilator and with seraphim, if he had 2 wheels he was in the pit, 1 wheel was out. It was made clear that this rule was for seraphim only. As it happens - I have just checked over the footage and BOTH of NST's wheels were actually over the pit and therefore the judges decision was correct.
