28th December 2010 - Robots Live - Snibston Discovery Park

Robot Live are returning to our roots for a return to Snibston Discovery Park in Coalville, Leicester (about 4miles from our Whitwick venue). Our first public event was held here back in 2003, we will be running a similar event again. There will be fighting robots on display, antweight competition, our pay to drive system and mechanoids ect. We dont have many events like this anymore, where you can have a chat and a chance to show off any robot related christmas presents!

In 2003 we had 2000 people over the day who visited, and was attended by many robots including; Chaos 2, Tornado, S3, Pussycat, Bulldog Breed, Storm 2, Mute and it was the first appearance of Big Nipper where we all stood around saying That will never work!, how wrong we were!

Times: Are to be confirmed but probably 10am-3pm.

Venue: Snibston Discovery Park, Ashby Road, Coalville, Leicestershire, LE67 3LN

We are mainly looking for robots for static display, antweights to fight and any other robot related stuff you might have for display. Interactive robots (mechanoids, daleks ect can drive around the museum). We should be able to get you free access into the museum as well.

Hi all, if anybody can make it please email me (alan@robotslive.co.uk), they've been pushing it alot on the local radio so hopefully we have a good turnout. Heavies/Feathers on display, antweights fighting and any mechanoids ect running around.

alan, where has the page gone for the live event 2011 flight of scotland ?
want to ask where i can stay as we might go up for a week for a holiday !

Hi Terry, not put a thread up yet for Scotland, dont like to do it until bookings are 100%. But spoke to them on Monday, and everything is progressing, it'll be on the 19th June, the 'Into the Future' name is being dropped as its going to be centred around us so it'll be called Robots Live. Last year we stopped in a B&B in North Berwick, i can let you know the info if you want, the museum site is http://www.nms.ac.uk/our_museums/museum_of_flight.aspx so you can search around there. Theres a few B&Bs around there, alot more choice if you go nearer Edinburgh.

Hi Guys,

The doors open at 10am so if you can arrive any time before then. The museum offically closes at 5pm, but its normally dead by about 4pm. We've got a small trophy for the antweights, which your welcome to do whatever you want with. We have arranged free access to the museum for all attending as well. There is a cafe onsite as well, abit on the expensive side, like most of these places, you can probably bring your own food if you keep it on the sly.

cheers Alan we will try and find something towards edinburgh for a week but if youve got the details where you will be aswell that will be great. We should be there tomorrow but am worried about getting stuck in snow as the forecasts are very vague ! do you know what the weather will be like up that way tomorrow ?

Raining at the moment, says it will be like that tomorrow as well, most of the snow has gone.
