Got back at 10 to 11, after journey back of nearly 200 miles with a leisurly break for supper along the way. Wont say how fast I went but my car cant go much faster that the speed I was doing at times
Had a great time, strange things happened to Pillow Torque especially when it died during the lunchbreak testing. We didnt win but 3 points is better than 0.
As for the final fight, I expect they are still finding little pieces of Ripper scattered around even now after the final fight of the weekend with THz. Funny thing was that the pig ended up on its feet in the middle of the arena after all that
that was a great event and i have final got all the bugs out of thors drive just in time for a really ding dong of fight with mute, thanks to everyone who help me sort thor, dan, mark, mike, and anyone else who had there head in side thor. but the best fight was ripper and thz, it was really nice to see thz work as it should and for jonno and steve to have lost one fight lol. its just the start choppers will rule the world.
Glad we finally managed to make an event with the new Spearhead. It was entertaining to see eyes light up as the other roboteers saw a shiny new robot to damage.
We had some problems but on the whole it worked pretty well. Hope to get the problems ironed out for our next event.
I really enjoyed the day, there were some great battles, particularly the final and if all of the events have been this good I wish we could have made it to more.
What a brill event! The best so far. It was great to have robots like Bulldog, Kronic, and Spearhead there. Hope you can all make it to Kings Lynn.
Steve get your welder out! Its only 2 weeks to the next one. Does anyone know if John cranked THZ up for that last fight, I heard a leak as he armed up so I thought Ripper was going to be OK. In hind sight i think the hissing noise was probably all of the pneumatic fittings on THZ reaching breaking point!
yes, as i walked past thz, i caught him turning the pressure up. so we put more gaffer tape and the PIG on.
weve said..... WHEN we meet him in the final-final at doncaster he can turn it up to the full 180psi
you know us we dont care !!!
didnt really get any damage, all the fixings for the polycarb had already broken, so it was only the gaffer tape holding them in.
and the scoop was already cracked from the last thz fight.
apart from that more gaffer tape and were ready to fight no internal damage!
I wont be at kings lynn, leaving my capable crew to run things, as i am away filming Geronimo with the BBC.
Dont worry you dont get away from ripper...... Just a stand in driver required !!
This was one of the better events i think, some great fights, and nice to see new faces.
There will be an update regarding the competition, and the final this week, to bring everybopdy up to speed with the current plans.
great event, was a good selection of fights and robots. Slowly sorted Merlins problems during the weekend and won the last fight (At last!!). Although Thz gave us 2 good beatings (big hammer needed!). Also i think the drive system is stuffed
Well done to Stu for judging, i think i agree with every one!
Reports will be online by the end of the week.
ps. Anytime Dave, as long as you return the favor by not throwing us OOTA!
Definatley one of the most entertaining events so far in the tour. Very glad THz wasnt at full power for our fights, and think we are going for the record of most consecutive losses. Hope Ripper will recover quickly and maybe with a different driver (Jason?) others will stand a chance
Great event and good to see some fresh machines.
We turned THz up slightly from the normal 80 to 100psi, just for Rippers benefit
Wed had a small leak all weekend (all Mikes fault!), but fortunately it wasnt losing enough to make too much difference.
look no further jonno i would love to take care of ripper for ya, but if thor was drawn against ripper it would have to just sit in the middle of the arean and i would still miss it.
