Geoff :
Congrats. to Ripper for winning the heavy comp. (Although some people may be tempted to cry fixed )
Hmmm, i would LOVE to know how that fight could have been called a fix with Dantomkia being flipped over 20 times, with Ripper flying only once or twice, THEN Dantomkia sitting inverted with no gas to self right.
Tim- no one else had a problem mate, if anything, they all picked on Kan-Opener. LOL!! Pillow Torque ramming into Kan-Opener, and G3 even Lifting it a few times with their flipper. Kan-Opener had one trashed motor and wasnt 100% mobile anyway, unless you drove into the claws all the time, no one else had a problem mate.
Time for real Arena Hazzards at Round 2
The Points scoring system going online tonight, stay tuned.
What an Event - Rates up there with Preston for atmosphere. Great Fights, Great crowd, Some good judging from The internationally acclaimed Judge Mr. Stu. All I can hope is that the rest of the tour keeps up the standard.
Look forward to seeing everyone this side of the border for the next round - all except for Bing, whose photo has been circulated around all Edinburgh accomodation.
cheers roger, thanks everyone involved for a great event but i would just like to say what a great job jonnos mum did, i think shes a star on the mic. also to the sound lads doing a great job too.
Stu,
Lighten up mate, It was said in humour (hence the smilie!) it could have seemed a little coincidental that the robot belonging to your employer won when you were the judge!!
Also I think I have to agree with Tim, maybe a semi out of control Kan-opener was not the best thing to put in the arena with the feathers, they efectivly put Scorpion Jr out for the rest of the day after hitting and shorting our NI-cads after inserting one of the claws INSIDE the machine. Not to mention tearing 3 wires off the top of the Vantec and leaving an impresion of the tip of the claw in its case!! (That was too close for comfort thank you )!
Other than that, as I said eariler, exellent event guys.
Dantomkia was well whooped by Ripper. There is no way that anyone can say fixed!!!!
watch out Jonno for when I get my wingman back and then I can concentrate on driving and leave the mundane stuf such as weapons / tail etc to him. That will be a different story then...................
Mike or Mr. Luurrrrrve
BTW, check out my profile for a piccy of Jonno after Amanda got him home for staying out with the Thor / Air / Mute boys. Jonno was a little worse for wear. No, correction, he was a HUGE amount the worse for wear on Sunday morning. Much to Mr. Hoppits disgust!!!!!!
It was superb weekend, miffed we missed the drinking binge, but that will be corrected next time, we may end up at the same hotel as everyone else next time so we can fully understand the meaning of life the universe and Bing! bg
It was a super outing for Chompie and us (and we didnt break down once, nor was our damage self inflicted this time hehe). Thanks to everyone that was gentle with us. Has to be said that our main damage was in the last fight of the event for us, done by the over zealous house robot who popped our tyre and almost trashed the ni-cads. Anyway he didnt and well see everyone up North in a few weeks, really looking forward to it.
Ooops forgot to say congrats to Pillow Torque on winning the Newport featherweight trophy, Im tipping the Pig for big things. Dont forget about the Pigs points Mr Stu or Ill forget to have my coffee g
Oh Dear, thanks for reminding me - better add the points for the Pigs.
Geoff - yeah i know you was mate - you know me better than that - *COUGH* was not a fix *COUGH*.
HEHE - yeah it was a good event, and i agree, Mr Kan-Opener may have wanted to get revenge on any bot he could - only coz he lost a bosch motor - Least Ripper and Storm 2 have him a bashing and flipping in their fights
Anyway notice - The Points Scoring Page is up at http://www.roamingrobots.co.uk/wintertour2004_points.htmhttp://www.roamingrobots.co.uk/winte...004_points.htm
The PINK PIG has the same amount of point as Thor and Kan-Opener and Merlin and St Agro!!! GO PINK PIG!!!
The Lists of Robots exspecting to attend Round 2-5 have all been updated - could ALL roboteers wishing to attend, PLEASE check that their robot is ON the list. If not contact events@roamingrobots.co.uk ASAP.
The problem with Scorpion Jr was I think very much the same as Bernie. Kanopeners claw entered through the gap left by a nonrunning spinner and did a fair amount of damage whilst in there. Not being able to run spinners was OK until I encountered a claw long enough to get through the gap and 18 inches inside the bot ;( I quite simply hadnt anticpated meeting such a weopon as no feather has anything like it to my knowledge.
Never mind things are looking up it may just be possible to fit the new motors into the existing design, so I may make Edinburgh after all
Sadly if they dont fit I dont think Ill be buying two smaller motors for just one or two events before the new chassis is built ;(
