    Re: Reading - Robots Live - 24th & 25th October

Tried and failed to defend our reading title but thoroughly enjoyed the weekend all the same. Thanks to the robots live team.
Also if anyone has a copy of the 3rd place playoff, us vs Saint would like to see it, typical my tape ran out just before start.
    Cheers.
    Zac.

Thanks to the Robotslive crew for all their hard work and putting on a really enjoyable event. Iron-Awe 6 won its first competition after a tough fight with Tilly Evo in the final (well done guys!). Also, well done to Jack for some great driving with their new robot Orrion (Iron-Awe 4) I hope you guys get a lot of enjoyment from it in the future and inflict plenty of damage with the axe!

Well our last big event is over and I think i'll need until Whitwick to recover!

First of all a HUGE thanks to all those who pitched in and helped out setting up/during and taking down, and we drove the last van out of the venue bang on 9pm (ignoring the minor epic with the lost truck keys!) i wont do a list of names as i'm certain to forget someone but you all know who you are, but an extra thanks to Dave Weston and Ed Wallace as always.

I think we ended up with over a 100 robots at the event, shows we're still alive and kicking! Well done to our winners Iron Awe and Aftershock.

Ive got some videos that will go up sometime this week (I think i recorded both semis and the final, and a whiteboard).

Whitwick and Burgess Hill are booked for next year. We'll let you know when signups are open.

          Alan

I added it up whilst I was there, including all the mechanoids, it was 107, 54 were ants though

I'd like to echo Rob's sentiments - I was there in the crowd on Sunday morning looking on ominiously, knowing that the sport's still alive and darn it I MUST do it myself!! For real. Even if only ant or featherweight... something!

I thught Orrion looked vaguely like Iron-Awe 4! Just a great robot right there in Orrion now where once a great robot was before that!

Disappointed by Dantomkia's performance. Lost drive on one side and lost a bit of power in the arm too?

                  Tilly did good too.

Well done RL, hard work i know !!

Enjoyed the event, Both robots worked fine, nothing major went wrong, apart from my driving... difficult to control a robot when holding a 2yr old who keeps grabbing the tx !! grrr !!

Looking forward to just being a roboteer again in 2010 !

Well after a comment at this event, Apparently I should have an award of my own, the Dave Weston award for stupid moments, because, as I'm sure you're aware, I have been known to be accident prone, falling through Polycarb, banging heads, getting stuck in McDonalds, that kinda thing

                              Any nominations ?

I do: Mike Hamilton Macey for not once but twice forgetting to turn his gas on before a fight

Oh, one serious note though: My camera went missing at the event. Its a small silver Kodak one, wrist band on it and the dust cover still on the screen. If anyone picked it up by accident let me know.

                                Hi all, two things:
                                1. I have a small, black gluegun left by the roboteer who was putting the R/C cars into the arena, I will have at Maidstone if you are going.
                                2. Yes Dave I forgot to turn my gas on twice.....this year, once at Portsmouth and the other time I think was Burgess Hill.
Not twice at Reading as your post suggests.
                                3. There is no E in Macy
                                !!!
