Little Hitters Axe is worn out but hopefully will be fixed for another round Dave.

Yes its for Little Spinner 3 and Adrian is right its a full body spinner, allthough not the one I wanted, Graeme said it wouldnt work so gone with a safer option with a motor similar to this:-

    http://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITEDHOBBIES/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=5139http://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITEDH...idProduct=5139

Hopefully will be good enough just a shame we cant run it on 48V James . Graeme is on with the build and its got a 3mm Ti Base so should be within the LiPo rules. The spinner mech is done, just needs the drive and disc making but that will take some time as its out of a 30kg lump of Aluminium that needs to be 6kg.

That motor is ok but will never reach full potential just read all the large scale model forums you need the right batterys and even more difficult a 300A brushless speed controller other wise you might as well use a smaller lighter motor with a smaller lighter decent 100A controller and still get same power, faster speeds and overall lighter so more weight to work with. Ive looked into this several times with the same conclusion.

No picture of it yet, will just have to wait.

I dont expect to get anywhere near the power they are claiming and we would need 48V for that. See your point about the 300A controller they are not easy to find so we got a 120A one. Our thinking is that a motor bigger than needed will be more reliable when run at less than it full potential. Also we will adjust the clutch so that even when the disc is stalled it wont draw more than 100A so should save the speed controller from producing the magic smoke. Makes finding batteries easier with 100A than 300A.

Reason for using this is simple saw it on ebay, its a thrid the price of a mag s28-150 with about the same speed and power. Dont really need to save the weight as a disc about half the weight of the robot is enough Never used a outrunner before so its a bit new to us so will have to see if its good enough. If we do break it then the mag will go in it from LS2.

those hobby city motors have real bad reviews- hopefully urse is abit more reliable.

Done any spin up tests yet? interested to see what the start up power of the larger motors is like..

I went for two high toque high speed motors and geared them down- only after reading real good reviews and seeing them used in other models.

I got two motors of ebay that stated real good specs.. but they burnt out real quick and broke themselfs. Always best to go for a big brand when it comes to brushless. Which esc did you go for? turnigy sentilion?

damn you for having a heavyer disc then me though lol

Motor is similar to the one in the link, the actual make is a Turnigy on not listed on thier website. Also Speed controller is a Turnigy as well.

Graeme has taken the motor apart and said its construction is good, and had the winding glued in by a local rewind company as they were a bit loose and dont want them moving with the shocks. Magnets look well secured as well and with a 12mm Ti shaft through the motor it should be ok.

Not done any spin up tests with the disc, as its not made but done some with it mounted on the Mill and the other side of the clutch in the head. So far never had a spin-up problem (fingers croseed) but have got the acceleration turned to slowest so far.

Not planning on a fast spinner, gone for same speed as the old one so yours probably has more energy.

What was the speed of the old one? i have no idea what mine is running at. Ive done calculations based on dc motors- but i dont think there at all acurate.

Not sure if youve purchased your lipos yet, but ive found a good deal on the BMFA website.

Those outrage packs are usually really good.

Speed of the old one was 2075rpm. We have a speed sensor so can check it easy enough. See profile for pic of new one so far.

Grant, not got the batteries yet but cannot find a 10 cell one that fits so looking for 2 5 cell ones but they look about the right spec.

nice clutch and gear setup to the centre spindle, should drive nice aswell with the 4wd,

if you look into flightpower and thunderpower lipos theres a new range started replacing the old one what are 30c i think, will be alot better with dumping the ampage needed for your system

Swanny, that should stay on the general section, why not create a thread for Kane like Mike.
