    28th January 2007 Roaming Robots - Swindon

I have yet to burn out a motor or lock up a gearbox in my feather. The only problem i had was my motors vibtrating loose, so we finally decided to weld them on the robot.

      Guys,

Just a quick note to say thank you for your hard work yesterday, there was a real sense of community spirit, all working together to put on the best show possible, something which has been slightly lacking of late !!

The event was a complete sell out, even after adding the extra chairs, and for the first time ever, we had to turn people away.

Although I didn€™t manage to get the major upgrades to the arena done due to other commitments, we did, as you know have two brand new layers of floor. Nice and FLAT !!!!

Lets hope 2007 brings more of the same, roll on Brighton, Wigan, and then Magna, where the upgrades will be put in place bit by bit !!

Pictures, event report, and video will be on the site soon€¦ especially the disappearing act of the fruit machine !!!!!

      See you all soon.

jason and i got to the event about 1 ish with about an hour to spare. we unloaded thor and did some last checks and tech check. in the arena thor was without its hammer and giving the drive a good test and it was very powerful, sharp and fast. all went well till jason slammed the arena wall and pop went the speedo. end of event for thor. thanks to john reid for all the posative information about electric hammers jason will now spend all his time perfecting it and hope to have a fully working thor for wigan. i will get my ass in gear and will also have Envy ready for wigan. we sat back and watched the rest of the show and how it has changed. not changed as in robots smashing each other to bits but the WHOLE atmosphere. all the roboteers seemed to be really friendly and a closeness in the community was definatley there. it felt warm and welcoming. attitudes have changed all for the better and all good as far as i am concerned. how mighty mouse still manages to keep us entertained is a credit to its owner. same to terrorhurtz and its owner, hats off to you guys. after the first show we had a break and my adopted mum bless her came up trumps with trays of sandwiches for all the roboteers. of course i over filled my plate and went into the arena to spend a moment with jonno and andy cane. something got their attention and i was left sitting alone in the arena scoffing my tea. it was then i began to realise how much hard work all the roaming robots crew actually do for us roboteers to come and play with our boys toys. that arena is a big arena to put up and take down, to put all the sound equipment out and about, all the polycarb around the arena, clear up mess after every fight, unload that van and load it up again, the house robot, i could go on all night but all i want to say is THANKYOU ROAMING ROBOTS for keeping the sport alive and kicking. you are a dedicated hard working team who deserves an applause. a special note to mum, you are a star on your own, you keep the crowd entertained and all i wanted to do was come and join in the fun because that is what the atmosphere felt like and i wanted i piece of it. you are pulling all the right strings with the crowd so just you keep it up and i will join you with my own microphone. just once more guys WELL DONE and keep it up your all just ace. i will bring another machine to wigan for robots to smash up. well done to everyone else involved at swindon and i hope to be just as involved at wigan. shame you missed such a good show ed. i missed you very much indeedee doo. mabee you should get storm ready for wigan and come and see all your roboteer friends.

Jonno, for reference, can you tell me how many people were using Spektrums that event? Id guess it came close to 50% of the robots.

Looks like I missed a goodun. Im having to cut down on the one-dayers and places far flung due to impending redundancy. However I counted up that Im game for 12 events this year anyway.

                          See you in Brighton

Yeah, maybe Hannibalito mistook that truss for the bridge for the planes that crosses the highway near Schiphol and thought he could taxi there.
