  • 13th - 14th January - Combots Cup

If June isnt a good time to come to the states, heres another option....

Jan 13-14, 2007 (This is MLK weekend, so you should have Monday off.)

    $10,000 for HWs
    $3,000 for MWs.

LWs and SHWs can play, but no cash prizes.

You can thank Mike Rogers for talking me into doing a high dollar MW event. I guess this means I need to make a second [smaller] trophy. Matty wil have to surrender The Cup in Nov. Weather he takes it back in Jan is up to everyone who plays...

This will NOT be all day fights. Im trying to trim the show times to something more reasonable - but expect fights to start later, and end MUCH later. 1am for the final fight on Sat is a possibility.

Registration is open on the Builders Database.

Sewer Snake is the reigning cup holder - is your bot ready to pry it from his bright red wheels???

POSTED ON BEHALF OF DAVID CALKINS & THE RFL

              Hey all.

Were six-weeks out from the event, but theres too much going wrong on the part of the [new] venue. What we went in with and what theyre now trying to get are removed by about 5 digits, and between space considerations, time, and most especially the money that theyre charging us, we cant do it there.

Since its six weeks out, the call was to try to find another venue or scrap it. I think that the most professional thing to do on our part is to postpone until we can find a suitable venue - in terms of both cost, location, and cubic feet. At this stage, in my opnion, a crappy event is worse than no event.

It kills me to do this, it really does. But if wed tried to go through with the event under the current conditions, I think that wed either have ended up still cancelling a week out, or ended up $30k in the hole, and no more events ever - including RoboGames.

No one wanted this event to happen more than me and Simone. But we also have to be realistic as to what kind of show was possible.

Our commitment to the builders and the sport remain in tact. If youve already bought airline tickets and incur penalties, let me know and Ill see what we can work out.

RoboGames is still happening no matter what at Fort Mason.
