  • GOOROO says hello!

Was just thinking about the good ole days and did a search for our robot Gooroo, found a couple of links and even some photos and video! Thought Id have a scout round the net and see if anyone still fights and WOW! I thought the scene had long died a death, now I find the FRA and Roaming Robots. Looks like the robot warfare is still going strong and no longer in the hands of the corporation!, thankgod!

Well I dont know if any of you remember us, Simon & Jerry, from Gosport, on the southcoast, if you do then Hi! and if you dont, Hi anyway!

Been wondering what to do with Gooroo, not a runner anymore, partially stripped and in storage, maybe some parts might be of use to others?

I will attach a pic of Gooroo to my profile incase anyone is interested? Gooroo was a fairly unusual robot being a completely plastic chassis heavy weight.

Regards to you all, I look forward to hanging around here.

    Simon

    GOOROO says hello!

Hi Simon and welcome. You missed us all on 8th and 9th October when we were at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth on one of the Winter Tour dates. There have been ups and downs but it is going strong and many people have been working very hard over the past 3 years or so to keep the sport in the public eye and firmly in the hands of those who have a genuine love of the sport.
    Hmmmmmmmm.....interesting - a HW with a completely plastic chassis

            GOOROO says hello!

Hi Jonno, yep is me m8, great to hear from you again! Yep that was a night to remember, god I had a hangover of mass proportions the next day! I dont think we will rebuild gooroo, but does roaming robots take old bots for display only purposes? Would make a nice static to look at?

Bulldog Boyz, hello guys. Yep gooroo never did fail in a fight, those tracks and plastic armour just kept on going, Gooroo loved flippers and axes just bounced off like drum sticks! Wish we had had a chance to go up against a good spinner.

Craig, yes I remember that, the back end of the ram failed and the spike turned into a projectile just before the fight began, full bottle pressure was behind that spike, thankfully I think the final break slowed it down otherwise the team in the opposite corner would have been a little worse for wear, I know it made me jump!

I have also got two 4QD Pro120 36v speed controllers if anyone is interested, I will put a post up in the forsale section.

            Simon
