Just nosing on the RR site and found a whole load more dates.. well done Jonno
Not only have you announced an event with more lead time than Mentorn ever managed, for every event they ran all put together....
but youve given us something to build for.
I tried a year working hard with little or no robotting, and I really really miss it.
    Count me in,
    rebuild underway

      Hey...

How rude putting this on the forum before i get chance to

Yes I am planning on putting on the first Full on UK Championship Outside of Robot Wars. I think it has got to the stage, where Ive seen teams loosing the motivation... and it is crunch time, we either revive the sport or take up tidily winks at the weekends.

It will be over the late August Bank Holiday, probably over the 3 days.

However as you can imagine I have a lot, and I mean a lot of work to do before then, and am already working on it.

      Required Arena Upgrades
      Correct Venue Decision
Maybe a little bit of a format change... outright fighting becomes boring after a while, maybe its time to test your driving skills and tactics a little more.
A good educational link including UKRG, and my own edu projects somehow

Anyway.... As it develops information will be posted. Including an official launch that the event is taking place.
I hope to have most bits of the puzzle in place by the new year.

As I am back on again (forgot my original username and password), thought Id point something out. Acording to info on another site, 2006 is the 10th aneversary(spelling) of Robot Wars being on the BBC.

Now if Robotwars was still on the BBC for the last 3 years that site would be right. But unfortunatly thats not the case.

After the past few events, Winter Tour and Ireland event and so on, just been wondering - who is up for the UK Championship full on competition?

We are. By the time of the event we will have ironed out all the problems plaguing Turbulence and have a decent robot. Well take on anything if it€™s a competition worth winning.

Would there be separate arenas for the featherweights any heavyweights? It would speed up show time and would allow for a bigger show. May I suggest the XFM arena as the best feather arena in the UK atm?

Dont think thats going to happen Ewan due to many reasons. One being more setup time, costs, also getting the crowd around 2 arenas, means them getting up, also bigger venue, also setting up all the lighting and sounding around the one main arena, also all the arena effects for the new Roaming Robots area which will be for the feather weights, it would be silly to have a seperate arena when you put the full whack of effects/lights/sound to the big main arena.

Maybe over two day events the HW arena could be put up for day 1 and then taken down at night and the FW arena put up for day 2?

Just an idea. I dont think there are many problems with the current system anyway...

You gone off topic now, nothing wrong with the arena for feather weights, worked well in robot wars and so on.

But just interested who is up for a real full on competition. asking the question as quite a few teams are sort of turning into we just do it for fun and hobby and dont want to fight spinners So just seeing who is up for for full combat. So Scorion is, Team Turbine is, take it Ewan is....
