  • Sqwiffy wheels

    Hi,

has anybody experience of running a 2 wheeled robot where the wheels/motors are not side-by-side and the motors are overlapping?

You may ask why and the reason is that we have some Ranglebot motor/gearboxes. Using them means that your bot is immediately over 30cm wide and we wanted something narrower.

    Thanks

A friend built a 2WD wedge bot with off-set wheels like you described. It worked surprisingly well and drove almost as well as a bot with in-line wheels. I think the secret was to keep the centre of gravity low and right over the wheels.

i've run a few robots that way and it's pretty good. If you put some weight at the front where the wedge is they sit pretty flat. Sometimes I find a round head allen bolt sticking out the bottom helps, you position them strategically and adjust the height.
