  • Kevlar Roofs

Hi, I'm new to the forum, just wondered, would a kevlar roof solve the problem of having to ban spinners. It doesn't look too expensive and I've heard its strong and light...

Not really because we still have the problem of the massive cost of the thick polycarbonate for the arena walls, the lorries to transport it, the setup gear and storage.

    Welcome to the forum BTW

Kevlar is just an order of magnitude more expensive than other suitable plastics.

Main problem with any roof of a suitable strength is pure mass and volume. In short, it means another large van or small truck to get it to the venues and a few people with lifting tools and time to get it in place.

Ignoring the cost, would kevlar be safe enough to contain shrapnel? Can anyone take a guess?

Even plain wood would hold back the schrapnel. It's just a matter of thickness and thus weight.
