  • Useful Hobby King Links

Hobby King have some great value stuff, but the website can be a bit of a pain to navigate, especially with their multiple warehouses. So here are some of the useful items and their product links (Click the names).
In short, UK Warehouse: Not as cheap, reasonable postage time and cost, easy returns, collection option.
International Warehouse: Very cheap, expensive P&P for large items, long postage time, returns more complex.

    Radio Gear:
Orange Rx 6ch - Cheap DSM2 tech Rx.
Orange Rx 7ch - More money but failsafes on all channels.
Orange Rx 4ch - More money but tiny!
Orange T-Six - DX6i clone at a fraction the price. International WH only. No DSMX.
HK 6 Ch Tx/Rx - Hobby King's own 2.4Ghz system. Full of features, very cheap! Not DSM2 international WH only.
HK compatible Rxs - Not as cheap as the OrangeRxs, but not bad!
Turnigy 9X Tx/Rx - Cheap and very featureful 2.4Ghz system from Turinigy. International WH Only.
Turnigy Rxs - Additional Rxs, not as cheap as DSM2 Orange Rxs but available in the UK WH.

    Other Radio Gear
GWS V-Tail Mixer - Popular external mixer. Doesn't mess up your failsafing good price. International WH Only.
Turnigy V-Tail Mixer - Cheap and available in the UK. Will mess up failsafing so external fail safes required.
Turnigy External Failsafe - Cheap, small, light and easy to set up. International WH only.
Gyro - Cheap Gyro, UK WH, I haven't tried it myself.

    Fun Stuff
G Meter - Ever wondered how many Gs your robot absorbs/inflicts? International Only.
Mini Cam - As used in Bitzawood this champs. Comes with mounts, case, USB lead. Alright recording and super cheap!
Tachometer - Ever wondered how fast you're really spinning? Measured 6150rpm on Bitzawood's disk.

    ESCs and Motors
Brushless ESC 200a - Cheap, powerful, proven and in the UK WH!
Brushless Weapon Motor - There are a multitude of Brushless motors at HK, more selection at the International WH. Watch the voltages though.
Cheap Small Cordless Drill - This is just screaming BW drive motor/gearbox.

    Misc
    Bag o' Deans Connectors - I mean Nylon T-connectors.....
EC5 Connector - Only get one pair for the price. Popular link connector.
UBEC - Cheap light and poweful. There's also a 5a version.

    Li-Po
Li-Po Voltage Checker and Alarm -Very useful for quickly checking batteries after a fight and making sure you don't drop too low while testing (You won't hear it in the arena though!)
Li-Po Bag - Massive bag, tiny price. You need one, it's in the rules. No really.
iMax B6 Charger - This is the charger I use, added advantage of a built in PSU means less pit mess.

That must have taken a bit of time to do, thanks PJ

I really hate how they charge you in dollars

        @Jasper, You're welcome!

@Gary, if you go on the website, look bottom left and change the currency to GBP. Now every time you open one of the above links it'll display in GBP instead of USD. You have to make the change every session though which is infuriating.

Well yes but the bill at the end is still in dollars which doesn't relate to their quote GBP figure as my credit card company charges me more. I complained about it and their response was basically tough $h1t

This is why I refuse to use them, no matter how low their prices are. Cos if something goes wrong you are stuffed.

I've never noticed that. Pretty sure my total has always been in GBP and that's the figure that leaves my PayPal. Lots of people complain about their returns but both me and Dan have had to ask for refunds/return things before with no problem.

If your ordering from Hobby King, be sure to linger on the pages the item you want to buy is on... this will usually provoke a popup that gives you a couple of dollars discount... not much but it's a saving all the same

Just make sure you only order from a single warehouse, if you try to add anything from more than one warehouse it just gives an error message and the discount offer is dismissed... Hope this helps someone!
