  • corona ct87 2.4g conversion

Have bought this to convert my t6exa, have now spent half the day on this piece of crap, it will not work all that happens is the reicever flashes for 3 seconds then nothing. The light on the tx module is only red, the only time it is different is when you turn it on to bind when is flashes red/ green. I've been close to smashing this I to the wall and am wishing I had just bought a complete setup as its kissing me off. Cab anyone help ? I've allready looked at all the silly mod pics on the web of other people changing the wiring in their transmitters and they all say do it differently.

Ok lets start simple. Is the transmitter set to PPM? Took me a while to figure this one out myself but if it's on PCM then it won't work.

I can't find out how to do that so I assumed its on it allready, there is mention of ppm in the book.

You're lucky I have the same transmitter.

Turn it on. Does it say PPM in a small box in the top right hand corner of the display window?

            From the manual

            To select modulation:
            1. Access the Model Select function in the programming mode (by pressing the MODE and
SELECT keys simultaneously and holding them down for one second). Use the DATA INPUT
lever to select the model memory you wish to modulation select.
            2. Push SELECT key twice after seeing on the screen the model memory where you want to set
modulation, then you will see €œPULS€ on the screen.
            3. To select PCM modulation, push the DATA INPUT lever up. The €œPCM€ is displayed. To select
PPM modulation, push the DATA INPUT lever down. The €œPPM€ is displayed.
            4. To get the transmitter to operate in the new mode, switch transmitter power off and then on.
The small indicator will indicate the mode, either PPM or PCM.

              Re: corona ct87 2.4g conversion

after i depress mode and select it starts flashing model no1, so i press select and CL flashes
i press it again and model 1 is there again flashing, PULS is never seen on the screen.

Oh wait, seems I'm looking at the T6EXAP as it's the version I have. Have a hunt on the net and see if your tx has the capability to transmit in PCM versus PPM. If not then you will likely have another issue.

One issue I remember from one of these Tx conversions was that if the transmitter was within 1m of the receiver then they wouldn't work on start up. Bit of an odd one

                  Re: corona ct87 2.4g conversion

                  just found this-

Ken, you are right, the T6 EXA is FM (PPM) only, although I have never seen one, take the receiver back to the shop and explain. (Print off the table below). The Futaba website shows the differences. Look at http://www.futaba-rc.com/radios/feature-compare.html I think that Futaba must have made this transmitter for a short time then added the PCM system to it and called it 6EXA Super and/or 6EXAP which are very popular models.

so im on ppm mode, but the reciever just flashes for a few seconds then dead.

reciever is pluged into the robot esc which workes fine and the supply battery is 14.8v
the 40mhz reciever was pluged into it and working the esc today.

are you sure you have soldered it to the correct pins and that the joints aren't dry?

quite sure, also sure ive got the antenna the right way but there was no pic in the instructions to show what way round to solder them in, was a bit of a fiddly job on them !
but the rx does flash to say its recognised the tx though.
