  • Battery Charging Time

I read on the web that to know the charging time of a ni-cd baterry i should ude this formula:

    1.4 x (baterry mah's) / (charger ma's) = charging time

    In my case:

    1.4 x 1800 / 1000 = 2.52 around 2:30h of charging time

Is this formula correct? I don't have a smart charger/digital charger.

    Cheers.

    Re: Battery Charging Time

Don't think so, as you can easily charge at 4 amps which would mean your 1.8 amp battery would be charged in under 30mins.

      Re: Battery Charging Time

Hugo indicated that his charger current is 1000 mA so perhaps he can't go to higher currents for a quick charge. The formula he quoted sounds right to me. And a good way to check is to feel the battery. NiCad's only start to heat up when they are close to full charge so when the battery starts to feel warm it is usually almost done.

        Re: Battery Charging Time

        Thanks for the reply.
I forgot to say that i solved the problem.
I tought that my charger was a simple AC to DC converter, but it's actually a RC charger. The led on top of it starts to change from red to green. It takes about 3.5h to go from solid red to solid green, so the formula is not completely correct but close.

        Good builds and fights!
