Hello.... (video will make this make sense)

Not sure if anyone is old enough to remember the days where the TV didn't go on all night, it stopped at 11pm after The Last Call, where a minister would basically talk to you about for a bit before bedtime.

Every year at New Year up north we used to have a man named Rikki Fulton do a comedy version of it which is one of my favorite series of sketches of all time. So for traditions sake here is a video of one such example:
