  • Sponsorship

I know a few of the teams are at least partly sponsored in some way and I just wondered if anyone had any additional information? I appreciate it can be a sensitive subject given the money factor so feel free to PM me.

    - Where does the FRA and EO's stand on Sponsorship? I noticed none of the robots have advertising on them, unlike the USA.
    - What sort of trade goes on in the deal? Do sponsors offer services, materials, discounts, funding/money?
    - What do robot teams offer in exchange? Logos on attire, websites, forum signatures? Exclusivity deals to use their materials / components?
    - What sort of amount would full sponsorship for a year likely be? I appreciate this will be different for each team.
    - It is normal to include team running costs, travel, entry fee's (the entry fee is more in most USA comps if the team is sponsored.) etc...
    - What sort of establishments are most likely to offer sponsorship? Universities, fabricators, component manufacturers?

    Any help much appreciated!

    Re: Sponsorship

I used to look all over for sponsorship when I was starting out, at one stage I had three on the go simultaneously including a battery company and plastics supplier. All but one provided parts-only though, so for the more robot-specific (and often expensive) parts such as speed controllers you'd be hard-pressed to find a sponsor. I also reckon looking now in what is practically a recession and without the chance of TV exposure (which wasn't actually allowed on Robot Wars either as opposed to US competitions) you're generally going to find it difficult.

One of the only teams I've heard of to get financial sponsorship in the UK was Team Storm, less surprising given the portfolio of successes and potential publicity they could offer compared to the average builder. Spotted this a couple of years ago but not sure what it came to.

        Re: Sponsorship

i just told my sponsors what im doing, the types of shows we do and the fact that ill be more than happy to put their logo on my bot and they have been doing little bits for me ever since.

i bought a few bits off them before hand, even if i could get them cheaper elsewhere to try and build a bit of a link with them
