  • Help with fitting newer motors to older power chair

    Hi all,

I was recommended by Alan Wood to register on this forum to see if anybody in my local area could help me to customise my older power chair to fit newer motors to it.

Here are the discussion threads that I've made over at the wheelchairdriver site forum:-

    http://www.wheelchairdriver.com/boar...php?f=2&t=1524 and http://www.wheelchairdriver.com/boar...php?f=2&t=1550

    Hope someone can help me.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Re: Help with fitting newer motors to older power chair

Steve lives in Wells next the Sea, Norfolk, UK ..
He wants ... as he's said .. to update his OLD chair with replacement motors... his disability prevents him doing this.

So could anyone help out with physically doing the job and or with a replacement pair of decent wheelchair motor/gearbox + wheels?

    Cheers Woody

Tsk ..you posted whilst I was editing!

Had a read.....Looks like your chair needs some work doing to it to upgrade to different motors and gearboxs. I think your best option is to get those motors refurbished.

          Hi swanaldo,

Thanks for your reply, I was hoping to fit newer motors to my older chair because then I wouldn't have to worry about worn gears etc... I have had a look at newer chairs but they are either too long or too wide for the bungalow I live in, so I was hoping to get my chair customised as it's the right size for indoor use as well as outdoors.

PS. @Alan (woody) you must've edited your post while I was updating my profile :P
