Re: roaming robots
If I was going to a robot show and saw that as an intro i wouldnt bother going..... all you have is a few clips of fighting robots done on a wobbly handycam with no information on what your introducing.
I am sure you can do much better than that with a little time and effort.

Re: roaming robots
From an audio perspective I think the sound of the robots crashing and bashing the the crowd cheering are very important, especially in promoting Robots.
I believe some of the SFX on Robot Wars were actually post production, it's far more obvious in BattleBots and that Killer Robots thing Discovery did a while back did a much better job than BattleBots but obviously had some heavy post processing going on in the sound.

Re: roaming robots
Well I think promo videos should include decent audio, which includes those things. How you go about doing it is up to you. Unless your an experienced sound designer though I would just use the original sound track recorded by the camcorder.
Seriously dated, but generally speaking the BBC has very impressive production quality;

The voice-over chap sounds seriously bored out of his mind, but I shouldn't diss the advert. I was lucky enough to catch it the week before the first episode aired and tuned in out of mild curiosity. That mild curiosity instantly turned into utter love and excitement and was a pivotal point in making up my mind over what career path to pursue. Sounds a bit corny but it's true
EDIT: Compare that advert to the one for Series 7 after the move to Five. Forgot how absolute rubbish that was: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoDqF9eg ... re=related

Re: roaming robots
I remember series promo's going through this phase of having the voice actor sound disinterested. The current phase is to make them all Welsh!
I remember seeing that advert too, and thinking That sounds like the coolest thing I have ever heard!!! must watch!
