    @Dave the motor is running using pullys on a 1:1.5 ratio.
    My budget for the motor and ESC is £60

      I don't know why I thought the robot class concerned was featherweight, I must be tired. (or OLD) You are quite right Dave in this class brushless would be the way to go,
      On the subject of feather spinners the problem with brushless is keeping the robot in the arena! I hope to make a Kilo bot too, but first I want to see the arena finished and at a show then I will make something fun and totally useless.

        @Ben, Isn't your bar going to weigh loads? At 6mm thick and 300mm long it'll weigh around 600g!

              first I want to see the arena finished Me too! Once an arena is confirmed I'll show up with a robot but so far I have seen lots of robots described [and built] but so far no arena

                Apparently it's further on than this with the upper support frame all finished. Not sure if he had purchased the polycarbonate for the sides yet.
