    Re: A return to television

I'ts funny how a lot of the American robot were similar to each other but very different to those in Britain.
It's essentially two evolutionary pools... Americans have BIG spinners to cope with ..thus the bots ... that wish to survive them .. are pushed towards a certain design.

We have no Heavy weight spinners... that can compete due to Arena / Insurance restrictions .
We also have regular shows to attend / put on .. Bot builders in the UK are thus driven in a different direction.

To a degree, I feel British fights and bits are better since we have to use tactics to win battles and our bots have to be agile were as the USA bots just need to spin up and get one good hit, they don't seem to use proper tactics

Surly that is a tactic? Hell, I wish my tactics were to just spin up and win! Although Late Rites did take silver......

Could someone explain why the pool without the spinners has robots with the hardox wheel covers?

I feel that the UK heavyweight category, in the absence of spinners has become very showman like.

because the robots run several times in a year to protect the wheels. The american bots are usually run on the philosophy of not wanting armour to bend into them from spinner hits. There's always plus and negatives points to this argument.

I wouldn't say that the feathers are any less showman like with the addition of spinners.

At the end of the day, it's two different ways of fighting for two different arena environments and it does show how different environments cause the robots to evolve in different ways.

                To state the obvious:

There are more robots in the 220 than was shown. I think 27 total competed at RoboGames, including a few flippers (Son of Ziggy and KJO are both flippers but weren't shown on TV, and Bounty Hunter was shown, but not much...)

Discovery did post a lot of the unedited fights as webvideos:
