  • odd question, 12v dc mains, can i use a battery for power

been looking for a battery operated photo frame, which dont seem to exist.
found this one on ebay and its 12v dc mains.

can i chop the plug off and hook it to a battery?

Probably... depends if the DC-DC conversion is done the plug (probable from what the description sais) or in the frame itself (doubt it)...

Best way to check is, look at the plug that goes into frame it should have 240-12v dc dc converter or something on it... If not, get an electrical tester and check it, there normaly centre pin positive connections...

Put one end of your tester inside the plug, and the other put on the outside of the plug while its turned on and see what its reading... if its showing 12v coming out of the plug then it shouldnt be a problem.

Remember - always be careful when working with mains voltages though! ...If you dont know what your doing, its best to not touch it.
