That's the one thing I think that is lacking in the UK bot scene at the moment. I know there are issues with fumes from burning robots, charred/melting polycarb and the risk involved in building flamethrowers (especially if someone new and inexperienced tries to use a deodorant can and lighter) but having some form of flame effect, even as an arena weapon, would look great.
It would have made my robot much more interesting. :P
However, would the EO's supply the fuel like they do Co2? Heck, would any venues even let homemade flamethrower bots in?, I think flamethrowers mounted in the arena floor would look cool, though.
That's another issue with them actually, some (if not most) venues wouldn't allow them and insurance may not cover it. I think fuel would have to be supplied by the roboteers. Considering the flammability of it, having two big canisters of it to decant from the same way as we do CO2 probably wouldn't be a great idea.
And now that I think about it, CO2 is provided by the EOs free-of-charge to power the weapons of flipper robots. How about supplying us spinners with battery packs to power our weapons free-of-charge as well?
Yeh, i think flames would be cool, but to make it work would be hard, ventilation and insurance etc... would love it though, probably reduce the amount of plastic bots though, lots of people would end up bring out a lump of mushy molten gloop, barely resembling a robot.... lol, would love flames though!

Well we get to plug into a wall for free..... But yeah! I want my free battery packs!
Bots-eye view of Sewer Snake vs Last Rites. Looks and sounds pretty cool I must admit, but weird seeing it from a robot's perspective of being trapped in a poly box and forced to fight to the death :P
