I'm tempted to do a Brushless/Lithium conversion to my Rustler, anyone recommend any motors? The motors in the Rustler are all mounted from the front and aren't covered, so it'll have to be an Inrunner.

Castle Creations 1410 4pole motor, heaps of power in a small package, together with a Sidewinder SCT or Mamba Max pro, great combination for 2WD 1:10 scale cars like the Rustler.

Expensive? 89 euros, about 80 gbp for the complete set is far from expensive.

Alright Mr money bags! :wink:

I couldn't find it that cheap anywhere, best I could do was around the £180 mark.

Even still I was thinking £50 tops. Know of any alternatives?

Stick with brushed. Anything that low is not a cheap esc but an expensive firelighter.

I run brushed on all my electric cars, IMHO i don´t see a need for more power, when running on a smaller track. (2wd off-road). Just buy a 2s lipo and a good brushed motor, usually the ones with replaceable brushes are better. Also make sure you have a good gear ratio (with different turn motors)
I´m just an old school fan too....

A few years back a spent quite a bit of money upgrading my Rustler (before brushless was affordable), new ESC motor etc.. and the results were crap!

For what ever reason it just had no torque and the top end wasn't all that great either. In utter disappointment I put it in the cupboard and never got it out again..

The motor I was using was an 11turn I think, so I expected it to be at least a little pokey!

Did you break in your motor correctly or just put it on a car and started to drive around?
Were the batteries good?
Was the gearing right?

I just put it into the car and started to drive... Never heard of breaking them in...

Tried various batteries, even other people's who had Rustlers that ran much better.

As for gearing I don't know if it was correct. Standard spur gear and a 16 tooth pinion gear I think?
