I found those a while ago, they actually kept me sane for a good part of last year :P

I liked Orac rather a lot for some perverse reason...maybe it was the manner of its demise or the way you proudly exhibited the charred remains for some time afterwards...hehe...it was a good heat though, there were a few good machines in it and it's still fun to look at Pain and imagine what could have been were it not for broken shafts and strange communications errors

Yeah, I'm happy that he's uploading all the UK Robot Wars videos as there are a lot from Series 3 and 4 I haven't seen.

If only now someone can upload the rest of the Extreme Warriors series...

Because you don't mess with the EXTREME WARRIOR, HOAKOGAN! Soon the flame pits will rise up to the dreams of Arnold Rimmer and will make a smeg cake out of you, HOKE HOGAN! *SQUONK*

Man, I love the way the show looked and was presented in the early days. Felt more like the gameshow format. Even just the grungy industrial feeling is so much better than how things were in the later series'.

Some of these designs could actually work quite well in the kilobot class if they were scaled down, as it's a good mix of ground clearance for the gauntlet and weapons for the combat.

The change was our own fault, we were all asked by Mentorn to sugest how the show was taken forward. Most teams grumbled about the unfairness of the challenges and wanted heat driven battles, mostly to limit the non-combat destruction of some robots.

I supose this is a classic example of not letting the enthusiasts run the show, what is best for us doesn't necessarily make great TV.

Funnily enough, when I competed in Rex's Robot Challenge and the UK Robotic Games I always remember finding the assault/obstacle courses and games a lot less interesting than the actual battles
I think it's in our blood to go for the full on fight fight fight approach - I love competing in the battles - but I just don't reckon it works too well all the time for a TV show.

Aw, I loved it when it switched to just battles. Often wonder how robots that went out in the challenges would have faired in combat (particularly Psychosprout!). Would have liked to have seen the gauntlet carried on as a side game, like Sumo Basho, but I suppose it evolved into Pinball Warrior.
