  • advice on a link position

im taking a little box on wheels robot to barnsley next weekend, as my weaponed robots are all playing up. so if they end up not working on the day, ill at least have something to use.

problem is i made it a while ago and put the link near the wheel and at the time thought nothing of it until now, pics below

it that a bit dodgy or not? or if i bolted a little sheet of ali or something to the link its self so theres something unbetween your fingers and the wheel how about that?

    thanks

I think with all link questions the thing to ask is if €œX€ happens will I or someone get hurt? I would say.

If the robot has no weapon.
If when you turn the robot on its side to fit the link in, the wheels don€™t touch the ground so the robot can€™t run away from you and.
If the wheels don€™t catch your fingers (if they started up accidently) when you insert or remove the link.
    It should not matter.

With robots as small as that, it'd be hard to get a link in somewhere that isn't near the wheels! Haha. I'm no safety guy, so I wouldn't take my word, but it looks OK to me, looks like there's enough of a loop on the link to get at it without getting your fingers near the wheel. Maybe bring a cable tie to attach so you can pull it out from afar if they say it's too close.

As long as there is enough room to get a finger in though the armour, I don't see a problem.
