I love the proper old skool car park battles. Obviously you can't throw spinners into the mix, but theres just something added by the scraping across tarmac that puts more excitement into the battle

Craig, I make no apoligies for my coments, what we saw in the clip I posted was nothing short of criminal negligence on the part of whoever organised that event.
As for FRA involvment, I think you will agree that India is just a little outside of our juristiction!
However if the association were to be contacted by any overseas organisation we would be more than happy to offer any advice we could to ensure they ran a safe event.
Out of interest, we have in the past offered advice to organisations in South Africa, Malaysia & Singapore and continue to work closely with the RFL in the US and the DRG / GRA in Europe.

Re: Safety rules.... What safety rules!!!

The comments posted on You Tube speak for themselves however I have done a bit of digging and have found where this video was shot - the details have been passed to the FRA's Safety Officer.

Re: Safety rules.... What safety rules!!!

When did the FRA appoint a permanent safety officer? As far as I was aware there was only one appointed for a temporary solution ( for arena grading etc with craigs event).

Paragraph 4.1c of the Constitution has the answer.

Re: Safety rules.... What safety rules!!!

Thats strange - I was told by members of the governing body no such person had been voted in (about a month ago now). And can I ask why event organisers havnt been notified of any change in a role thats actually pretty important to us?

Correct! No one has been voted in but we have someone 'acting' in the role on an ad-hoc basis. Even before you mentioned it (by just under half an hour ) I made the suggestion that the subject of making it a permanent role be raised as an agenda item for the next meeting, it will then be up to the GB to decide.

Can it also be voted on by EO's aswell? I believe we are one of the most effected by it, and would want to vote on something we believe can directly effect the way our events are run, but recently we all seem to be left completly out the loop of whats going on with anything....

Re: Safety rules.... What safety rules!!!

Unfortunately not. Constitutionally the FRA represents the interests of roboteers therefore the GB makes the appointment for the role. I must add that EO's have never been excluded from GB meetings and when subjects directly affecting them are discussed they are sent a direct invitation - three particular recent cases in point at the last meeting being the judging rules, arena trials and the future of roboteering.
Lets put it this way, it doesn't matter who is appointed and whether their appointment is permanent or not, the FRA's Build Rules and Event Safety Regs are what the FRA expect to be followed but should an EO want to consider something safety related that isn't contained in those documents the FRA are always open to consultation - it doesn't need to wait for a GB meeting.
