I've seen dumber things... just not many.

Seriously though... someone is going to get killed there, just a matter of time

You've seen dumber things? I'm worried now

I hope there's some sort of rpm limit or weapon mass limit in there though, you would have to have the IQ of a coffee mug to run something like that with no restrictions...

One of the first rules id imagine you'd put in place would be that people cant stand 5 feet from a spinner with nothing stopping it killing you. So i doubt there was any rules at all   . And those where spinning pretty fast to.

Problem is that in places such as that H & S is non-existent and the implications don't even come into their minds until someone gets killed or seriously injured. Even then, only rarely, does something get done about it. Mike Lambert has told me some horror stories from his time working in Dubai last year - you may have seen the news reports about the conditions endure by migrant workers there. Most of it (but not all) is true.

Re: Safety rules.... What safety rules!!!

I don't know if any of you noticed, but this 'event' (and I use the term very loosley) was organised by / held at a government college of engineering!
What does that say about the 'duty of care' the Indian government shows for students in it's own educational establishments?
Can you imagine that sort of thing happening at say Brunell University dept. of engineering?
Moral of this story... If you get an invite to attend a robotic combat event in India... Just say no!
                        (you'll live longer that way!!)

unfair comment Geoff, they may not be very safety concious but nobody was hurt, surely finding who organised the event and making some suggestions on saftety on behalf and the sports gouverning body would be more helpfull than sitting behind a computer and mocking,
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing

also i'd like to add that oundle mill xmas events used to run robots in a car park with no protection, i fought King B and Tornado with TX108 while running round behind it because we had no signal, Exterminator with its disc ran at full tilt while we stood a few feet away.
                              this was 2003-2004
It was events like this that the FRA was brought in for, its a dangerous sport and it needs the governing body to do its job which it has been doing.
