Combat Robot Hall of Fame - Balloting Open

The Combat Robot Hall of Fame (http://members.toast.net/joerger/hall_of_fame.html) opens for new nominations in August of each odd-numbered year. That would be 'now'.

Membership in the Hall is based on:

* Dominating success in combat;
* Pioneering or perfecting influential designs;
* Having great fan or entertainment appeal; or
* Otherwise making a lasting impact on the sport.

Many of you have sent in ballots in previous years. The process is simple:

* One ballot per person/email address
* You may vote for as many robots as you like
* Robots from any weight class are eligible
* Balloting is open thru August 21st
* Send your ballot to speedcall@excite.com

You may wish to review the current members and 'Honorable Mention' list. Robots on the honorable mention list can be promoted to full membership if they receive enough votes in the current balloting.

Results will be posted to the Hall as quickly after balloting closes as I can manage.

Iron-Awe 5 - Current UK Champion.

After the 2007 UK Champs, IA5 went on a 19 fight unbeaten run stretching over 7 months!

In its first year IA5 flipped 33 robots out of the arena!

Iron-Awe 5 holds the record for the most number of robots flipped out of the arena in a single fight. 5 robots achieving this twice.

In it's first year IA5 won 85% of all of its fights.

Won 2009 Robot Rumble, 2008 ROD - Dublin, Robots Live Whitwick 2008/9, Robots Live Burgess Hill 2008, 2007 Winter Tour etc.

I might be a bit bias, but I do think Iron-Awe 5 deserves to be recognised as something a bit special. Has any other robot cleared the arena so many times? 'check out Melee 1, Robots Live Reading' link from the web site http://www.iron-awe.co.uk ( video )

Iron-Awe 6 will be pretty good too, as soon as I learn to drive it.
