  • George francis h5 repair?

    hi everyone,

Has anyone ever had anyproblems with one of these? mines got a few damaged tracks on it (not blown up just scratched from being left on shelfs etc ) so ive bridged the 2 gaps that have been made..

the board doesnt seem to be responding at all. ive checked all connections on the PCB and they all seem ok. and the board is deffinatley getting voltage.

the components on the front board dont look damaged either, so im abit confused.

If no one can help but has a spair there willing to sell let me know. Thanks.

Or if anyone could let me know if the voltage regulator on the board is ment to give out +5v or +3v that would help.. its pumping out about 2.15volts- and its connected to the track that was damaged, so im guessing its this thats gone?...

Could you read the markings on the voltage regulator?

        Re: George francis h5 repair?

Have tried reading it and compairing it to somthing on maplin/ rs but theres nothing the same.. Im going to make an educated guess at it should be pumping out 5volts.. ill go to maplin tomorow and see if they can match the part.. if it doesnt work then atleast ive worked out what the problem isnt lol

Trace part of the circuit, find out what the voltage regulator supplies, and what those components - ICs probably - should be receiving (on their datasheets)...

Oh,sorry. I didn't just want you to read it, I want the info. If you post some good photographs and as much other information as possible, I can for sure tell you what voltages that are supposed to be at different spots.

I tried a new voltage regulator with no success.. still totaly dead. Im not the best at fixing PCB's... anyone volunteer to look at it?

Anyone got dave gambles e-mail address?

                Re: George francis h5 repair?

Can you post a detailled picture of both sides of the board?

If a voltage reg that you think's supposed to output 5V is giving out less than 3V, I would guess that something else is pulling the output down. Track bridged or failed component most likely causes at a guess.

                    Re: George francis h5 repair?

Sorry, it is impossible to see a single marking at any component. It is also too difficult to see where the conductors at the board go.
