Yeah, absolutely Trev. Im really looking forward to see the new Mouse in action- I vote to keep Mighty Mouse as well though. Just to drag you OT for a moment; looking at the pic of Meggamouse on your profile it seems to be standing on one of those scissor-jack trolleys. If so, where did you get yours and is it any good? I had to lift Ka-Pow! off and onto the bench a couple of times earlier in the week and even with the ram and batteries out of it, I wish I hadnt...
My vote is to replace MM with Velocirippa. To me in the sporting world, anyway it seems that If the insided are still okay, that most people would prefer to see the old legends than the newcommers. I mean I always remember Velociripper more than MM for the most greatest Goals in RW soccer history. And who wouldnt pay to see these fights:
Ive suggested it a couple of times, but as Alan has noted, it wasnt designed to take on modern flippers and get dropped from 5 feet in the air. Team loyalty perhaps, but much as I like and respect Trev and his robots I think Onslaught would still usually beat Velociripper or MM if driven well- so not by me obviously! Megga Mouse might well be a different matter of course...
Woody - not as many holes as Dantomkia, it was like 2 dozen corned beef style curls of metal.
It would be great to see Onslaught again, Woody, we were the only ones to have car steering then and you helped me no end, for which I will always be grateful.BTW you should grow your hair back like it was, when you had it cut I was talking to you for 1/2 an hour before I realised it was you! - I kept thinking who is this bloke? he seems to know me
John - the scissor lift was from Machine Mart, mine was my Xmas pressie from the wife. I wanted the smaller one but she bought the 500kg one instead - it weighs that as well - it is too heavy to lift in and out of the shed so that is where it is staying. I think the smaller lift retails at £175+vat. What I like about the lift is with it being on wheels, when I am not working on it, it is pushed in the corner out of the way, and when I am working on it, it is in the middle of the shed and I can walk all around it.
You are correct that Onslaught would beat the old Velocirippa, it had a starter motor for drive and was always burning out relays and on hard fights the insulation on the battery leads would ignite. Despite what Woody says Onslaught would give most machines a good fight, and there is now an extra 20kg - from the old 80kg - to beef up the armour.
MM or Velocirippa - I cant make up my mind. MMs lid is squashed flat c/o THz and it may be easier to fix the holes in old Velocirippas lids. Anyway, nothing is going to happen unti MeggaMouse is finished.
My hair was a bit extreme back then .. BTW Onslaughts weight after the rule change was/is 99.8 kgs with gas.
Will I ever rebuild it ... I dont know.
My personal circumstances prevent me attending 95% of events and the incentive is therefore some what lacking.
I spent Wednesday fiddling with ants for use with local demo etc (publicity stuff) Ive turned an old Z car into a mini Onslaught Im not the first i know but this one has the twin lift like the newer version of onslaught had.
We all loved Onslaught well I did at least proberbly why i like the mouse so much
