Alright, so to make the gate decent I had to consider its strength, pivot and angle it stands at. I took advantage of the Pole slots I made earlier, so the gate is easy to use and it is strong enough to withstand bots smashing against it. I built the supporting blocks in threes so that the weight is evenly distributed but doesnt use too much metal/material to keep cost down, and also detracts from the weight. On the bottom row of blocks there are holes, this is where the bolts go through the gate (they can be seen when the gate is open).
The top pole conceptually would be locked with a bolt and a cross bolt on the other side (perpendicular to the top pole so it goes through the support on the other side)
I know Im fussing a lot about the gate, but I had to consider safety aspects while keeping it neat with the arena. What think?
An idea I had would be to use the fact that there are three level poles so that TWO different heights can be set for the barriers from the bottom to middle and bottom to top missing the middle. Ideally, the top ones can be left out for smaller weight category contests, increasing the flexibility of the arena...
BTW: The other details arent visible in this film because I used an older arena so that it keeps my render times down. And dont mind the white guy that is NOT inflatable Thatcher, that is measure man.
Very similar to our gate. It is pivoted from the bottom, and to locking a bar is placed along the back of the door with two hooks on each side of the gap. The bar then sits in these hooks and along the back of the door, with locking pins to stop it from coming lose.
Not realy got any good photos, the best one i can find is at http://www.robotslive.co.uk/door.jpgwww.robotslive.co.uk/door.jpg
(alans at the workshop atm so ill ask him to take one).
Okay thats as far as I can finish it due to my software running out of licence. I was perhaps thinking the new hammer could have interchangeable heads on it, say axe/hammer/claw, all powered pneumatically.
