    Spectrum battery life

The original spectrum batterypack in the transmitter isnt rubbish, just small.
And the Spectrum itself is known as a real powerhog.
Not suprisingly as it is 2 transmitters in 1 package.

I remember Geoff doing a mode to a voltage regulator inside the spectrum which saves 50% of the battery life so it runs longer... but this does void your sprectrum warrenty....

I beleive the pack in spectrums is about 600mah or something like that?

For £15 from Model Power i got a 2100mah pack and runs so much longer, and does not void your spectrum warrenty.

This is the solution to this well known problem...

You will get around 4-5 hours run-time with the standard battery pack. If you want to go the whole hog, also change the stock battery pack for one of these from http://www.modelpower.co.ukwww.modelpower.co.uk ...

(dont forget to order the new pack with the spektrum power plug!)

You will then get around 8-9 hours run-time!!!

ok. can these new regulators be purchased from the UK? also it says to remove the old one you nedd to heat the body is this what you do to fit the new one?

may have a few more questions after this, to see which would be the best choice for me

            thanks alex

The easiest / safest solution is the bigger battery.

ok thanks for that, just thought if it only uses 3.3v why does it cut out around 8.4volts? am i missing something?

is it because when it converts it down it would be to low to run it?

                  thanks alex

(told you i would have more questions!)

Flip open the hatch cover on the reverse side of the transmitter and look.

Dump the spectrum and go back to 40 meg, much better

I know the battery life isnt great but with a fully charged battery i can do two shows in a day driving the house robot, ( every fight ) without a problem.

Even if i dont charge it inbewteen the shows, by the end it is low, but still enough to unload the house bot at my unit the next day.

I wouldnt think you should have a problem with the number of fights you do, just dont leave it on when it isnt needed, and boost it with a charge.
