COPY & PASTE...
You need to select one of the memories (0-9) in order to set
the charging parameters manually. On the inital screen you will have
[A1] or [A2] in the corner, these are the automatic modes. Press Enter
and theyll flash. Then use the up and down arrows to select [Mx]
where x is the memory you want. Press Enter again and you should then
be able to use Setup to set chemistry, cells and capacity

Thanks woody, i can see the automatic and manual modes, and can work out how to set my type of batteries. i have a couple of questions though. my batteries are brand new 8.4v nimh 3300mah, 7 cell, and i want to prolong the life and get maximum performance from them.
1. i was planning to discharge them when they arrive in the post and do this every 2 weeks, should i just use the automatic setting for this?
2. also i was going to trickle charge them before an event how do i set it to trickle charge, and what amps?
3. and finally! at events i wanted to top them up inbetween fights, should i just use the automatic setting for this?
thanks for any help.

I would charge them at around 300mA and then discharge them and do it again at the same rate when you first get them. For before an event, I would also charge them at around 300mA (this will be as good a trickle charging).
I between fights at an event i would charge at 3300mA, maybe 3500mA if your in a rush.

cheers Guys, i think im getting it now, when im charging i press down till its at 0.3 to trickle charge? and to fast charge i press up when its charging and take this upto 3.5? but discharging is ok to just do on automatic setting?
looking forward to prodigys next event. yours of course!

yep
thats fine.. the nominal voltage per cell of a standard NiMH cell is about 1.2 volts, but when fully charged itll be higher around 1.5v.. so a fully charged 7.2 pack made of 6 cells will be just under 9v..(for a while, but will drop back off once you turn the charger off)

sorry people, still have problems. i am now discharging and charging my new 8.4v 7 cell 3300mah packs. i discharged them which took 20 mins, at 0.3 discharge, and voltage ended at 6volts when finished. then i charged it at 0.3volts as i wanted to trickle charge them. After 5 minutes i get a warning saying output voltage too low, all im trying to do is learn how to discharge and charge them on trickle to cycle them before my next event. once problem is sorted how long should a trickle charge take?, sorry but i have no instrutions for this charger.

Picking the number of cells and battery type gives the machine the information required to allow it to pick the correct voltage.
Im assuming a typo 0.3 Amps NOT 0.3 volts.
6 volts is very low ..the recommended lower limit is ......I think ... 1 volt per cell.
You could try calling it a 6 cell pack till the battery revives a bit ( this should top it up to 7.2volts )....then reprogramme to 7 cells.
New thought ....whats your power supply?
I think Ive had that error when the power supply cant provide enough OOoomph!
