  • Bread and Butter Jobs?

With having absolutely no luck deciding what Im going to spend the best part of 4 decades calling work, I was wondering what do the roboteers do/intend to do as a job.

(If youve never heard of the term Bread and Butter Job before, its the Job you do to put food on the table.Of course we all know that.:wink

    Bread and Butter Jobs?

I was (until the end of March) working as a finance officer for the local authority assessing little old ladies finances to make sure they were eligible for social services funding. Quite a far cry from robots. I am now unemployed and no matter what I would like to do, I am still a pen-pusher in the eyes of employers but I would like to do something in the field of electrician or service engineer and to that end I have just started study for a BTEC in electrical installation.

          Bread and Butter Jobs?

i have always been in sales within the motor trade, it pays well and has given me a nice house but i hate the pressure of targets etc...and i used to have to work in germany, so was away from home alot. i always wanted to join the police force, but having a family and morgage young never helped towards me applying.its something i have been reconsidering over the last few months.

Id suggest a Plumber ( Corgi Licenced ) or Electrician...... Both options give you the chance to make some cash on the side ... or even go self employed.

Jamie, Im studying Journalism but Im in the same situation youre in: I havent really given thought on where to work. Im too busy with my current courses for that or looking over my own robots. I might take some Engineering courses this summer to help build my featherweight though.

                      Bread and Butter Jobs?

I used to do all kinds of administration and data entry jobs. My last job was as accounts receivable for an internet security company but then I fell ill and got sacked.
Have been 5 years unemployed due to chronic illness now and thinking of trying to find work as (perhaps) a teacher (for adults) since my illness seems to have stabilized.

Im currently studying Robotics. As far as I know this school is the only upper secondary technical school with Robotics as subject, or how it was, correct me if Im wrong.

Panel wiring for 5 years then Quality Inspector for 4 years and soon to be Quality Manager .

But i would much prefer to be a civil or structural engineer. But at 30 years old would take too long in training to make it worth while.
