Re-post from the RFL forum On Behalf of Mike Philips:

Daves Vantec 47E rebuild is almost done. The logic board is working despite fixing someone elses work I generally charge extra for repairing someone elses repairs. Turns out that it uses different fets than the Vantecs I have rebuilt in the past. They are on order.

If you want your large Vantecs rebuilt, send them now! I am getting short on time and sending it in a month before a competition, as most do, wont work for the beasts that are the larger Vantecs. Getting some of the parts for these dinosaurs is not fun and takes even more time. Rebuild price: $175 base + $30 per group (quadrant) of 6 of fets + shipping. There are 8 groups of 6 fets. Vantecs have so many fets that it would cost around 50% of the cost of new, to replace all 48 of them. So I came up with this pricing structure. They are 2 lbs bare, so proper packing will bump it to 3 lbs or more from 95133. I need to look up the cost of insurance. Ive always replaced all fets during a rebuild, but I think due to the quantity of them Ill make an exception. But that assumes that you accept the liability for using the fets that were not replaced during a rebuild.

Same applies to the Astroflight charger update. Send them now. $31 shipped, for the update.

Shipping: USPS is getting so bad now that I may start requiring insurance on everything. They have lost my DSL modem and one customers rebuilt motor control! They take ZERO responsibility for these losses unless you pay for insurance. Cheap bastards.

One of the biggest issues with rebuilding electronics, is did the customer fix the problem the caused the unit to smoke in the first place?? Bolting in a freshly repaired motor control will only make fresh new smoke if you didnt fix any design/mechanical issues.

                Dave,

Your Vantec 47E is back together and it works too It still needs one additional test and a pwm connector replaced. Its been a busy week. I should be able to take your money by the weeks end.
