  • How things change

Just thought Id share this with you, dont ask me why.

Yesterday I sent off this years F.R.A. membership form. It took me a while to find my cheque book cause I dont use it much these days but I only realised how little I do use cheques when I noticed that the previous stub was from a year ago and was marked F.R.A.!

We dont even use cheques anymore in Belgium. Not for ordinary peoples use anyway. If you bring a cheque to your bank they look at it as if it is a particularly disgusting fossil (coprolite anyone ?) and it takes at least a week to have them cashed. Companies however can still use them freely and some still do.
I had to go and collect a bank-cheque yesterday to pay the delivery of our new kitchen with, the company wont have it any other way. Stupid really, in this era of credit cards and internetbanking...

Same here. I use paypal, or ideal, of C2O to buy stuff from the internet. I use my bankcard and pin in shops, or cash from an atm and pay that way. I dont like cheques. I dont even own cheques. And I dont accept cheques either.

        How things change

I still write out a cheque every week for my childminder - other than that its all credit card and paypal with a bit of cash for getting lunch and the trip into Brighton every so often on the bus.
Mind you - no one has found a way of automating the process of checking all the slips etc when the statement comes through

I only got a cheque book to buy second hand parts off you lot! Saves me having to ask my dad each time and listening to him going on about how I am wasting my money.

It dont change as you get older Gary. You get a wife telling you how your wasting brass.

My mum always tells me that Im putting mileage on my car. She also pointed out that there are a lot of men doing this (roboteering) and asks me if Im safe being with them.
Ill let you lot argue that one out
