  • She's crossed the Rainbow Bridge

This evening our beloved German Shepherd dog called Critter has gently been put asleep forever. She was a most generous heart, sweet and obedient, a naughty furry devil and a tomboy, a cats mother and my companion for more than 11 years. It hurts to have her gone, but the good memories are in our hearts and minds.

See my profile for the most beautiful pictures.

I am very sorry to hear that Babeth. Its not good news. But look on the bright side of things. She had a bloody good 11 years of life with people who loved and respected her.

You showed her the ultimate sacrifice yesterday when you put her to sleep so that she felt no more pain.

          Mike.

            I thank you all.
We have very good memories of her and that is important I think. Shes done so much: keeping me company and protecting me when I was still living alone, playing a lot with us and making us laugh, comforting my mother when her husband had died, teaching a once-bitten child that not all dogs are bad and scary, and rearing several very good cats.

She had a good life and its those memories that will always stay with you and comfort you. She may be gone in body but she will always be in your heart.

Now that is the biggest smile Ive seen in days ! Would you give Megan a grateful cuddle for me ? She deserves it, being such a solicitous dearheart.

The cats are adapting to the new situation. Zorro misses her because hes always been very close to our dogs. And you can see they still expect Critter to be around and to show up. That will take some time. But their behaviour speaks volumes, they seek each others company more now, and ours.
