I spent a couple of hours last night with Ben (son number 2) in a recording studio.
Ben won the under sixteen section of a local music fest recently and we wanted a good recording to keep as a memo.

We are really, really pleased with the songs.
It was pretty cheap Bex. It took 2 hours to do the three songs and cost £50.
Youve just got to find the right studio with a spare time slot.

Thanks James, Ben was trying for halfway between Elton and Moulin because we only had the score for Elton.
Im incredably proud and also shocked that we have somebody with some talent in the family.
Its been a while since youve seen Ben so I just uploaded a pic from last night.

Bens been having singing lessons for about a year and a half now. Hes fifteen so his voice is still developing. He can cover bass, baratone and is almost there for tenor. So a little way to go on the range yet as well.
Matheieu (the pionest) is going back to France in a couple of weeks so were going to try sorting out some songs with backing tracks once hes got himself sorted out.

Ben reminds me a bit of Helmut Lotti (a Flemish singer). He broke through at a relatively young age in the 80ies as an Elvis impersonator and needed 10 years for his voice to develop to the great quality it is now. Constant singing and improving is certainly worth it.
Bass hm ? Now that would melt my heart... Just makes me mellow all inside... hmmmmm....

Pity Mario cant keep pitch, tune, or even rhytm. But thats all right, coz his voice is awful anyway.

A couple people have had problems with the mp3 volume so Ive put up .wma files as well
Bens in a show Saterday with his theater group. Hes doing a couple of old style music hall pieces. Its a lot more difficult to do than your standard ballard. He has to sing in character, dance, act and as its comedy get the timing right.
So just the five rehearsals this week.
Lots of work and hell get good at it.If you heard Ben live your heart would melt. Ive seen some people in tears for Feel The Love, mind you they are an emotional lot down here.

I have listened to the songs frequently over the last 24 hours. I agree that Ben has promise. He is doing the right thing to get lots of practice. Good for him!

wow, Bens really good! this isnt critisium (cant be bothered to spell properly), his voice does need good practicing, but hes deffo very promising, i think wif nowadays chart tunes, people tend to have a sharper voice, and bens still soft, but it is still good.
The only thing i can say to ben is, keep doing what you are doing, who knows, you may be in X factor next year!

O levels next year then A levels, so another three years of theater and voice training. Then drama collage for another three years. By which time hell be 21 and should be really good. Lots of work yet though.
