I think Tornado Mer joined the ranks of other top retired US bots. Team storm aint been over yet, though itd make a damn good competition (Storm vs. some of the US spinners) I say.
Ewan, Tornado Merr is/was an awesome bot, but with all spinners they are their own worst enamies
and can be beaten. I wont say easily, but once you learn how to do it, they dont stand a chance!
(Yes Im throwing down the gloves) with the right bot and driver...the arena is your friend...
Storm could have issues with the newer breed of spinners over here, Dont get me wrong I love their bot, 6wheel drive and the power of a freight train!!!!Whooooraaahhh!!!
but the steep wedge angle and sharp side edges are a bad combo as seen in their fight with Typhoon. Im not saying they couldnt win that one but if its not driven perfectly that combo could be disasterous.
And of course Id love to meet them in the arena... that could be an EPIC power brawl with good air time!!!
Matt the issue with our fight with Typhoon was that there simply werent enough anchoring points for the Titanium plating, the angled sides of Storm II are key for dealing with spinners as it causes them to ride up and away rather than cut in.
Should we need to on Storm II we can now run an almost mono-coque like single piece of Titanium 1/2 thick around the whole of the outside of the robot, keyed into the chassis as well as retained.
Given that last time the armour lasted an almost full 5 min fight with damage to the armour being little more than a small ding (save the panel coming off) - if the panel hadnt come off Im not sure wed have even noticed any damage from the fight with Typhoon.
So... panel issues resolved I suspect wed be fairly confident going up against anything the US has to offer
