  • Team Tiberius - Clearout

I'll be putting up quite a lot of things for sale over the next couple of weeks. Some parts which were used for Tiberius or similar projects and some random engineering things I've aquired over the years for robot projects and never used.

    First up....

    - A 40MHz 3 channel Transmitter and Reciever boxed. Used this for the early Tiberius on Robotwars. Quite old tech now, but all tested and works fine, so a good cheap starter set for an ant weight or RC car. (not sure which other weight catagories allow 40mhz these days?!) £10

    - An NCC-70-24, An old 4QD single direction speed controller. Can just about power a bosch 750. I used it to run a bosch on an electric go-cart I built when I was a kid. £15

    - Dual Channel interface board from 4QD, got a couple of these, one still in original bubble wrap. Probably no-one who uses these anymore but thought i'd post anyway. £4 each

    - FS1 failsafes, 2 off useful with 40mhz equipment, £4 each

    - Power supply 15v 25Amp, I've got two of these and they are very useful. Only bought the second for quick bulk charging of Tiberius (one power supply on each A123 battery pack). As new so looking for £65

    - An old Lead acid battery charger (Yuasha not hawker voltage) Can do 2, 6 or 12 volt batteries, or be used for car batteries. Slow 0.5amp delivery current. £4

    - Couple of drill batteries and chargers from 12v drills which I bought for the first NST drives. Hardly used the batteries so they are pretty new. Not great power to weight but could be useful for testing £ free to the first person who wants them going to Robo-challenge award ceremony.

    - Norgren pneumatic regulator, no idea what this is worth... £5

    - A wiper motor, took the photo of these before testing them and found that one runs fine, the other draws more current than at no load so is faulty and will be scrapped. the good one.. £ again free for collection at RC AC.

      And some more photos.

Please PM me if you are interested.
Would much rather pass things over at an event than post.

        Re: Team Tiberius - Clearout

Thanks to people who have PM'd me so far....

Some more things to add to the list...

        - A heavy duty 2 stage wormdrive gearbox 225:1, Think the individual ratios are 15:1 each. This could be dismantled for the gears and would make for a great custom gearbox or 2 for a lifter or self righter. I managed to crack the top of the gearbox cover somehow years ago (made of cast ali) which can be seen in the photos. Its quite a heavy unit i'd guess at around 6kg as the casing is heavy. It could be much lighter with a custom more compact gearbox casing. input shaft 12mm output 20mm both have keyways. £20

        - A 24v DC motor rated at 500Watts made by SEM with nice 2 stage helical spur gearbox (I forgot to check the ratio but think its around the 15:1 mark. These are fairly heavy but very conservatively rated motors. I have a second gearbox so need to check if I have another motor as well. £20

        - 2 off aluminium boxes to house electronics. (I used these for NCC-70 controllers in an early tiberius). External dimensions 185*117*56. £3 each

            Re: Team Tiberius - Clearout

            A quick update...

The follow items are now sold:

            - 4QD Interface boards
            - Both electronics boxes
            - Lead acid charger

            Provisionally sold

            - Radio set
            - 4QD speed controller

Some more items up for sale...

            - 4 off identical toothed belt pulleys with taperlock and keyway ideal for transfering power to a second set of wheels and making a 4WD heavy weight robot £6 each or £20 for all 4.

            - 4 off heavy duty bearing block units. £6 each or £20 for all 4.

            - Got loads of surplus aluminium in sections, sheet etc. PM if you have any requirements and I can have a look.

            - An example is a large base plate made for an early tiberius which never got used (3mm chequer plate ali (tough grade)). Could be used for a heavyweight base plate or cut up and used for armour panels in any weight class. £20

For any details/spec of the above please reply here or send me a PM.

              Re: Team Tiberius - Clearout

I've found something else to add to the sale...

10 un-used A123 cells. These are from an original batch of 50 cells which I bought for Tiberius, 40 were used to build a pair of packs for Tiberius. I've just pulled the remaining 10 spare cells out of the original packaging. Tested them and they are all still at the recommended storage voltage (3.3v).

The ones in Tiberius certainly proved this batch of cells to be good, the 8s5p arrangement was easily able to deliver wheel spinning of both bosch motors on drive at the same time as the mag S28-400 weapon to full power (easily 450amps in bursts) - the A123's mantained their voltage under load way better than brand new hawkers.

              Offers welcome £

                Re: Team Tiberius - Clearout

Here are a couple more things i've found stored away to add to the sale...

                - A couple of new unused bearings with 30mm bore 16mm wide. I was going to use these for NST's spinner but decided to change the design after I bought them. £3 each

                - A hydraulic ram 50mm bore, 25mm dia rod, 300mm stroke. I could supply with either 1/4 or 3/8 BSP male fittings. This would make a great ram for a full pressure flipper or hydraulic crusher. It is in very good condition after light use on Tiberius during series 6 and 7. It was mostly built by a company called Ram builders and they lightened the cylinder a little on my request. This was run to 3000psi hydraulically and would certainly be capable of operating at 4000psi if required for a hydraulic robot. It would also be ideal for use pneumatically as it has a deep steel threaded gland so would be more than up to the job of taking big impacts. £45
